Title: CD burn problem
Post by: wpbmusic on December 27, 2003, 01:46:32 pm: After burning several CD's without a problem, I'm now getting this popup when I hit the burn button

Can't Start The Write!

Post by: JohnT on December 29, 2003, 08:10:56 am: Could one or both of you please send me a log file of the burn process? Here are the instructions:

Turn on MC's logging for CD burning by changing the value of this registry key from zero (0) to one (1):

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JRiver\Media Jukebox\CD Writer\Logger

Then just start up Media Center and try to burn a CD (you can leave test mode checked to avoid creating a coaster). Then exit MC and find a file in the MC program directory called "cdwriter.log" and email that to me. Remember that the log file is overwritten each time you start up MC, so you must send the file before restarting MC.

The next cdwriter control will have much less log information, but for now, maybe you could go into an editor and chop off the first 1/2 or 3/4 of the log file and just send me the last section? Remember to remove the spaces from my email address.

Try unchecking the "decode directly" option. How many tracks are you burning, are you near capacity? If so, try reducing the number of tracks.

Post by: Markeau on December 29, 2003, 06:06:11 pm: FWIW I have a newish Pioneer DVR A06/106 DVD burner and get that "Can't start the Write" popup when the total time of tracks is over the size of the cdr. Ie, for an 80min cdr the total time of tracks cannot be even just 80min 1sec. (I never saw this popup with my old Yamaha cd burner which I overburned quite a bit with ... so either the new Pioneer burner absolutely will not overburn, or some kind of new behavior started with MC9.x about 6 months ago.)

Post by: gseale on December 29, 2003, 08:24:21 pm: I was able to resolve the first issue by removing the "Decode Files Directly to CD, but am now getting an error about not enough disk space being available for the conversion. Your temp music disk space has 0 free and you need
-958361249 bytes to convert all tracks. I've tried changing my temp to c:\temp and d:\temp (where I have 100GB free on both) and I get the same error. ?

Any ideas?

Post by: shAf on December 30, 2003, 12:01:39 pm: I seem to have gotten past a similar can't start the write problem. For some reason MC9.1.316 may not have liked my Oggs, even though MC plays them properly. I rip'd them again to MP3's and the write proceeded normally (... although I am still experiencing fatal errors if I try to enable DSP effects).
