I have mapped a cd drive from a PC in the living room and would like to play from it from MC9 located in the theater. I cannot get MC9 to play any cd's from a network cd drive. Is this possible?
Thanks

You cannot play any audio CD remotely in your setup. If it were a data CD full of ogg's or whatever, then that's a different story. There is a million solutions to your delemma (ie zones, remote control, Media Server, etc). The basic problem is that the CD-DA format is not transferable (or streamable) from one computer to the other...at least as far as MC is concerned.

Thanks for the bad news ;)
What would be one of the milliion possible ways of doing this?
I have a PC with multiple sound cards to which my multizone setup is hooked up to. Unfortunately this is in the attic closet very far away. Once in a while a buddy brings a CD that we want to listen to, but going up 3 levels of stairs is definetely too far away. I would like to play the CD from one of the PC's on the first floor' CD Drive and the sound come out of the sound card of the PC in the attic.
Thanks in advance

This is gonna sound whacky, and I don't even know if it can work, but . . . .
What if:
you played the CD in the drive in the PC on the first floor,
let Media Server send the stream to the 3rd floor computer,
which would play it through one of your zones?
?
