I received a nice new pair of headphones for Christmas (AKG K-501) ;D
In the info there is to AKG's "Hearo Player", a headphone cross-feed software with a free trial download . . . . .
Unfortunately, it requires WMP9 which I have avoided installing as I have fears of it messing up my system, interfering with MC10, and worst of all performing some kind os DRM on my music files!
Is there in fact any risk in installing WMP9, or am I just being paranoid?
I'd like to try out this software from AKG, but it is definately NOT worth it if there is ANY risk involved.

I have wmp9 and MC10 installed...
I have yet to have any type of issue.

Great!
I was concerned cause I seem to remember someone saying it had begun doing some Digital Rights Management and altering files upon install.
Thanks

I don't usually consider myself paranoid per se', but I am definately not a risk-taker either ;)
None-the-less, I think I will shut-down my media-server so as to protect my library . . . . .
I have a small local library I can experiment with to make certain before I risk 20,000+ files.
OK, so maybe I am paranoid :P
;D

If you look you can find a WMP9 version without DRM out there. I use that. I'm not paranoid, M$ really tries to take over the world! ;D

Users of WMP9 may be interested in closely reading their license agreement, specifically the portions relating to DRM. Here's an article with an interesting quote from the WMP9 license:
