Hi, am having trouble with my CD writer, it's old (4x max) and the computer is too (4yrs, specs below) I'm having this trouble across the board with other applications too, I can write mp3/data files but can't seem to write audio files for some bizarre reason…
and was wondering if any of you could shed some light on what these mean:
Unknown error. Sense key=5, ASC=48, ASCQ=5
and I tried a second time, test only, using 2x write and got this message
Invalid field in CDb.
Tech stuff:

I then downloaded v10 and tried again and got a
"buffer underrun" error
I closed everything down bar MC, (all the dockapp stuff and all that… just barebones windows) and still got the
Invalid field in CDb. error message
Media Center 10.0.27 -- C:\Program Files\J River\Media Center\
here's the tech stuff again for that last burn

I did a complete shutdown and tested again with MC10... still get the
Invalid field in CDb.
error message, but the tech stuff says I've 49MB of memory free
Any ideas? My PC is a 466 MHz and the tech stuff says 110 ish--- could this indicate the problem?
Would love some help on this one!

Update your ASPI...
http://downloads-zdnet.com.com/3000-2098-10219041.html
Make sure MC is not running while updating. It may help...it may not. Free memory percentage of zero is not too good, nor is WinME in general.

nope that didn't work... and WinonCD gives me the same buffer underrun error, so it must be a system problem
-
...or it could be some interaction between MC and WinonCD (or other burning software). Depending oh how bad you want audio burns, you could kill all but MC. Other progs I have that co-exist with MC are ECDC and Stomp RNM (or any that use the Sonic/Veritas engine).

I didn't have the problem before I tried updating my CD-RW driver a couple of months ago so I probably brought the problem on myself. Oh for a shiny new computer, with shiny new problems rather than these old tired problems!

I thought this was interesting
MC91: Intel Celeron 120 MHz MMX / Memory: Total - 130 MB, Free - 0 MB
MC10: Intel Celeron 117 MHz MMX / Memory: Total - 130 MB, Free - 0 MB
Mhz not the same
also you might want to invest in some memory or turn off some of the programs your running. you should not be out of memory with Windows ME and 130 megs

Invalid field in CDb
I got it in ALL burn from MC9.0 to MC 10.
ASPI or not
But ,if you do not need it as it is the case in Windows 200 ,BETTER not to install it.
Other burner programs ==MusicMatch installed or not
At any speed
With any kind of blank cd.
Still the same problem with MC 9.0 after a clean install , all updates installed -- Windows ones and others like firware for cdw drive and drivers.
NO other programs installed than MC.
Of cause out of IE ,modem and firewall.
Beside this the burned cds play fine.
But i need a cold reboot after each burn.
On test before clean install ,ALL the burner programs working fine-- cannot tell you the names ,i downloaded tons to try and remove.
Not a drama in fact.
Like it the only raison to use MC 9.1 or 10- that i do not like - burn is not working , back to 9.0
This one i like to use.
But look like there is a problem
-
I did turn off the other programmes before burning after I got the first underrun error... all I left on were explorer, systray and internat.
The no. of MHz shown in the tech spec changes with the wind... and isnt what it should be... I've a 466 MHz processor!
Oh and I'm not sure I have managed to burn audio with this configuration... once or twice maybe, the rest was on a posher computer I had on loan.

getting:
Unknown error. Sense key=5, ASC=48, ASCQ=5
with MC9136. Burns 90 percent through disc, but then pops out disc and gives the above.
Also having audio cd burn problems with WMP (can't find entry point IUMS in MSDART.DLL or something) and Music Match.
Is there a way to test Windows XP Pro for some sort of file compliance?
Sony pcg-frv37 2.8GHz 512MB laptop. XP Pro.
THANKS!

if your using MC 9.0.136
i would think you should upgrade
