Title: MC9.316 - Could not create plugin
Post by: mjcumming on January 06, 2004, 08:10:22 am
Something happened with the latest MC9.  When I now try and burn a CD, I get a "Could not create plugin" error which causes MC9 to terminate.  This occurs when ripping a CD.  MC9 gets the metadata from YADB and then gives the error.  Ripping using secure and VBR MP3 high quality.

Try downloading the MP3 encoder plug-in.

What version is MC?

Its 136 not 139 :)

If I restart MC9 after the failure, it will rip the next time ... so I don't think that plugin is the problem.  What other info can I provide?

9.1.316 is the latest build.  Can you try that?

Please copy your system info here by going to MC help/system info and then pasting here.

This is the error I am getting too on the system I just set up.

It's a fresh setup of XP, fresh install of MC.

Ejecting the CD gives me the error: Could not create plugin ''
and then MC is crashing.

Its ruinin the HTPC setup which is otherwise working great.

Still getting this error in the latest builds of v10.

It's bringing my HTPC to a complete grinding halt every time we insert or ejct a CD.

TOTALLY ruining the experience :(

Any plans to look into it??

Same here, put in a cd, or eject one generates following error:

Could not create plugin "

(Note the intentionally single quote at the end)

Been happening for the last several builds, although in the last few builds XP reports that 'Media Core has had a problem & needs to shut down', would I like to send an error report to Microsoft? Note that the music/playlist continues to play behind the dialog box until I 'OK' the XP error message, where it crashes to the desktop.

I can see what the error reports contains, but I know not how to copy that info to send to you guys, assuming you would want it, as it will not allow me to select any text.

Could it be a third party plug-in that is missing?  Check the plug-in manager under tools in MC.

Freshly installed machine, fresh install of MC with NO plugins EVER been installed on it!

It's a PURE MC bug.

Nila,
Until we can duplicate it we can't fix it.

Have you been through the plug-in manager carefully?
Title: Re:MC9.316 - Could not create plugin

Jim,
I understand that but trying to say it is a plugin is NO help as no plugins have ever been near the machine.
If it's meant to be a plugin that's supposed to be there as standard then I'm not sure as I dont know what MC requires in order to operate.
In terms of third party plugins, as I already stated, none have been near the machine.

I dont mind providing any information that would help but trying to shift the blame away from MC isn't solving anything.

That seems quite clear and un-ambiguous to me, so this....

Nila,

leaves me a tad confused. If Nila has a clean OS install, and a clean MC, but Jim insists it's plugin related, then it must be one of MC's default plugins causing the problem.
How can Nila, or anyone else, trouble shoot that?

I don't believe I said it was a plug-in.  That, however, is what the error message says.  So give us more info and maybe we can find it.

Sorry to be of NO help.

By carefully checking the plug-in manager to see if anything is installed there (even if it doesn't exist).

If you want to argue about it, I'll just lock the thread and go back to what I was doing (reading PeaBrain magazine).

What's the exact message?

I can't find 'not create plugin' anywhere in the MC source.

Thanks for the reply Matt,
I'll insert a CD as soon as I get home into the machine then write down the message it produces and post it.

Picture is worth a thousand words...

Can confirm this happens on clean install of MC 10.0.32, no plugins installed...

Happens whenever a CD is inserted OR ejected...

BTW I'm using the Ricoh burner listed below as my Pioneer DVD drive only ever wants to read DVDs :(

Incidentally the burner IS Burnproof contrary to what sys info says below...

Same problem here. On my XP-system a dialog appears with the signature of the error. It contains the following information:

AppName: media jukebox.exe
AppVer: 10.0.32.0
ModName: media jukebox.exe
ModVer: 10.0.32.0
Offset: 00004863

Is this of some help?

Same here.
Only happens if I turn on my  firewire DVDdrive after I have started MC.

And it causes MC to crash too. Quite annoying actually.

Can you try renaming any / all of these keys to see if it matters:

First try:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JRiver\Media Jukebox\Plugins\Handheld

If it still does it, then try:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JRiver\Media Jukebox\Plugins

Thanks!

Title: Re:MC9.316 - Could not create plugin
Post by: plopje on January 14, 2004, 01:47:14 pm
Sorry Matt, renaming one of those the keys does not resolve the problem.

I renamed "handheld" to "handhelds" and "plugins" to "plugin",
so MC can't find any plugins, but MC still crashes as soon as I press the eject-button on my dvd-drive or dvd-writer.
The problem does only occur if a CD or DVD is loaded or ejected. Opening and closing an (already) empty tray is no problem.

Post by: Matt on January 14, 2004, 01:52:17 pm
Are you seeing the message after renaming those keys, or just a crash?  It could be two different problems.

After renaming the registry-keys MC just crashes. No dialog: Cannot create plug-in ".

Anyone with this problem: please try the next build of MC 10 and let us know what the message says.  It will report what type of plugin MC is trying to create.

Thanks!

OK, now reports:

Cannot create handheld plugin ".

instead...

Could this be the reason my MC crashes after a successful iPod sync also?

Which I thought was a separate problem so did not mention, besides, it always seems to finish the sync correctly before crashing).

Hope this helps...

Matt, I think I know which part of MC causes the problem or at least I have a work-around.

MC crashes when in Tools->Options the Media Insertion Action for Handheld is set to "Autosync" and a device (cd/dvd/handheld) is activated. Setting this option to "Nothing" resolves the problem.

Aye, I can confirm, if 'handheld' is set to 'nothing' then MC does not crash.

thanks for the tip . It stoped , Now I'll have work on 3D Visualzation it's Crashing MC also. in picture cube mode there's a plain white box floating around the screen  instead on the cover art or a image for the song that's playing and if you mode's like to tunnel mode for example. The whole screen turn's white and blank, freezes and crash like the can't create pluging error. I posted this already we see what 'll become of this bug. But thanks again.

I'm having the same issues as described above as well -
(http://www.snuffy2.com/error/cd-hand.jpg)
Also see my closed thread:
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=18581 (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=18581)

I also periodically get a crash after synching my iPOD as well. Could these be related?

I'm not near my iPOD but will disabling AutoSync in the options prevent starting the Sync dialog of the iPOD when its plugged in & MC is running (it sounds like it would)?

So Handheld is set to Nothing for now, until this is resolved.

I get a crash when attempting to burn a CD, sometimes with a message that says "initializing writer", sometimes nothing at all.

Trying to play DVDs causes a crash as described by Nila et. al.
