? I am contemplating upgrading from MJ to MC in order to get the ability to remotely control a MC server from another computer in my house. That is, I want to use MC's remote server feature. However I cannot seem to get this feature to work. What I have done:
On the MC Server (running MC version 9.1) I have enabled Server Sharing through Tools -> Advanced Tools -> Media Server and I get a separate server window correctly showing the MC Server's IP address and port (192.168.1.111:81). When I then go to another computer and try to connect to http://192.168.1.111:81 using a IE browser window, there is no response.
On the MC Server I also have http IIS services running on port 80, and remote http connections can be successfully made to it from remote browsers. Furthermore, I can also run MC on the remote computer and it finds and successfully connects to the MC Server at 192.168.1.111.
What am I doing wrong? TIA

Media Server and Remote Server are two different things.
If you go to Tools/Options/Startup you should see a checkbox for launch Remote Server on startup or something like that.
Check the box, restart Media Center, then you should be able to browse to the computer's IP address with a browser and see the Remote Server web page.

You are running Media Server on your Server machine...
What you actually want is to do is open the Tools / Options / Startup menu and tick the box which says
"Run remote server on port xx" (port 80 is the default.
This then allows you to remote control MC from a web browser.
Media Server allows you to stream your library to another MC on a different computer...
