For some reason when I start Media Center it takes almost a full minute to load. I see an hour glass while it's trying to load and then at about the 50 second mark the Media Center begins to appear very slowly and once fully displayed is very sluggish for about 10 seconds. After that it runs just fine. I had imported about 5000 photos and 2 thousand songs. Thinking the database may be having trouble with so many files I removed them all but I'm still having the load problem. Has anyone else seen this before I try a reinstall of Media Center?

it also depends if your using this on a very slow CPU
Mine Takes 24 Seconds On A 3.06 Ghz computer
With A Database (mediafiles.jmd) that is 147Megs in size (50,000+ files)
I Am Not Sure If That Is Too Long Or Not To Not Only Load The File But Also The Database

Mine takes about 15secs to load and about a 1/2 sec to crash. Database is about 50MB, 200027 files.

My System has an Athlon 1700 overclocked to just over 2100 with 512 MB of RAM.
So is it safe to assume that the larger your Library the longer it wil take to load. Does Media Center index the database when you start it or something and if so is there a way to disable it.

Rob,
uninstalj MC and after that reinstall it. That helped me. I had the same problem with a 800 MHz CPU but with MC 9.xxx some times ago.
Just try it.

don't know don't think so i think it just loads the whole thing in the Dbase into memory
