Hi,
I would like:-
a) volume levelling feature that worked outside MC, i.e so that I could volume level and then take it on my portable mp3 player, and it would be all the same volume. I believe MusicMatch has this feature.
b) a better tagging system like MusicMatch's. YADB doesn't have half the of the info for my cds, and if this isn't possible at least give users the right to use freedb / cddb, like pretty much any other program
thanks
-
MusicMatch seems to be the best choice for you
-
A] you can do it with MC
B]......................................
-
i like everything else about media center, it just sux i have to keep musicmatch on my comp just to tag files properly
-
oh and more requests plz
if i have a file say Deep_Purple_-_Highway_Star, and use the fill properties from filename option, it comes out like this
Artist: Deep_Purple_
Title: _Highway_Star
how about an option to ignore the _ ?
-
You can remove the _ ,in clean properties
And MC /MusicMatch SuperTags is a powerfull couple.
And when you get use to MC , you DO NOT use MM for more than SuperTags and ,maybe burn.
I use SuperTags and MC as my main player
-
more features:-
1) Artists (Grouped) how about a one letter for each letter eg instead of A-C, have 1 for A,B and C or at least make it an editable option
2) The ability to remove items from the side bar eg like scraping my computer so it doesn't appear
thx
-
Grouped fields can be grouped to any level you want...and you can have multiple groupings in a view scheme too. I have a scheme that has Album Artsit grouped to 3 (A-C, D-F etc.) and then grouped to 1 (A, B, C) that way I f I click A-C the second column shows A B C...
Rather than requesting these things as features it may be better to post asking if they are possible as nearly everything you have 'requested' is already in MC ;D

And a trip to the help file never hurts.
On another note, I've installed MM and couldn't imagine wishing that nightmare on my worst enemy. What are "SuperTags", what makes them "Super" other than they prevent people from deleting a very bloated and awkward piece of software (IMHO)?
-
SuperTag is EXELLENT to get art sleeve and tags
MusicMatch is just an average jukebox for sure
But do not see the point to call it a nightmare
To me MC10 is a nightmare..
Look like there is a MC Bin Laden crowd over here

I'am know to be one of those needing quite a help from others.
But i use to ask AFTER reading the help files.....

zevele,
Could you elaborate on how the SuperTag system is any better than the system here? I'm confused about people's comments about getting tags and album covers with one click, there must be more to the super tags than that. I realize that it takes two clicks to get tags and album cover art from MC, but is the irradication of one click enough to call it "Super"?
As for the nightmare, basically, I've got a large collection of music. MM can't even load it's own interface and my database at the same time. Extremely ineffective, however, a well tagged library is a well organized library and in order to take advantage of MC's strengths, tagging must be as complete as possible.
Right now tagging in MC is admittantly a pain. I use about three different pieces of software to get my tags to where I want them. I use EAC to rip and get CDDB info and a cue sheet, then I use the Godfather to get the All Music info such as reviews, tones and styles, then I've got to copy and paste the information from AMG by hand into the appropriate custom fields. Then I need to search and replace comma space with semi colon, then comma with semi colon, then I need to copy the artist field into a sort field, and then I've got to cut the first name in the sort field and paste it after the artist's last name, then I've got to....
...the sad part is, I'm not anal retentive...
...then I use KingSparta's wonderful plugs to get the Lyrics, Bios and...
---come to think of it the nightmare is starting to look better than the reality....

just lost a long answer to you
About SuperTag.

NO, REALLY! ;D
Allow me to illustrate...
My current organizational method (this photo doesn't include the piles of cds in boxes, in the car, under my desk, at work, etc...):

At one point these were in alphabetical order, I can barely remember that day...

messy messy my friend...... ;D
I use 'genre' to range cd
metal shelve- psy shelve- french- alt country- ect ect shelve
It is the way i found to be able to find records fast
and YES there is a ???shelve with a big mess- but not sure where to put them

Quisp - Supertagging (in MM) looks up tags and cover art in one step. It will give you artist name, album, track #, etc. It can also fill tags from filenames. For example - if you have a file with the name "Rolling Stones - Satisfaction.mp3" but no tags, supertagging can fill in the Artist & Name tag, then lookup what albums that song appears on, and provide the artwork for the album. It also lets you "preview" changes before they happen.
Much more robost than MC, IMHO. MM also has a great radio feature.
As a jukebox/ file management program it is not great. MC rules there.

another:
instead of using "assorted" for various artist folders, how about a customizeable one?
-
Again Tanushan this is possible. Fill in the Album Artist Field to show Various Artists or whatever you want and put the actual artist in the Artist field. When you check the use 'Assorted for folder' box it will name the folder after what you have put in the Album Artist field...again I think this is in the help file...if not it has defnitely been mentioned here and could have been found using the forum search...

bmunroe - Thanks for the description of SuperTagging. I sounds to me like all jriver needs to do is look up album art at the same time as tag info, add one more feature and they could call their tagging method, "SuperDuperTagging". :)
I do like the preview mode, you can kind of get there with the undo feature in MC, but I'm always a little shy about relying on that and it is much better to see and test the effects of your decisions before actually making them, something computers are really good for...

another:
ability to choose track titles, eg when i am ripping if it chooses the wrong set of titles there is no easy way to change it i even edited cdplayer.ini, but to no avail
