Title: Incorrect how-to? - Transcoding
Post by: bbogart on January 12, 2004, 10:52:04 am
I have been trying to set my version of Media Center (9.1) to transcode files on transfer to iPod.  I followed the directions in help which say that there is an "bitrate conversion" option in the Plug-in manager under handhelds.  I don't have this option in my plug-in manager.  The only device listed under handhelds is "Portable Drives".  and there are not transcoding options.  I have installed the iPod Plug-in.  Is there a transcoding plug-in I need?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I'm not sure what that doc is referring to, but you can set the transcoding options by clicking on the "Options" button, on the right side of the same screen that has the "Transfer" button.

I'd be interested in hearing how your transcoding experience goes.  As I posted in the "IPod  support thread", it's extremely slow for me - it will take over 2 full days to fill up a 20 gig IPod.
