MediaCenter 9 volume control has no effect on secondary audio card not selected as the system default card. I play all mym system sounds out of a crummy ESS card, but send my media audio out of my SoundBlaster Live card. My hardware/ win98 system software configuration has not changed since upgrading from 8.x.
