King,

I downloaded teh cover art finder again today, to use with v 10.0.42 and uninstalled the old version, and re-installed.

When I run the plug in, it finds one cover, and uses it for everything that doesn't have a cover.  Can you imagine how long it takes to go through the collection, and view everything to see if it updated the album with the wrong artwork?  Not fun :(

I did it and deleted all the incorrect ones, and just moved the albums with no cover art to playing now, and retried, it still updates everything with the only one it found.

Am I doing something wrong, or is it maybe not working right?

Some of the albums I would think would be easy, Van Halen III, Rush - Hemispheres, A Show of Hands, and many more.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Cool, thanks.

After reading that again, it sounds like I'm complaining, sorry about that.  I really do appreciate your work.

The really wierd part is the cover that it did find, SNFU ...and no one else wanted to play, quite obscure I should think (and a GREAT album by the way).

It found it right away, then I watched as it seemed to scan through the other albums (determined by the background highliting slowly scrolling down the list of songs), then it just stopped, no notification it was done, no error message, and most importantly, I think, it did not list anything at all in the box labeled 'Could Not Find'.  I guess that's because it thought the artwork it did find took care of every album?

Oh well, please just let us know if you found something, of if I should just revert to an older version to get the artwork and then upgrade again.

Thanks

I have no idea why it stopped.

I do plan to re-do this plug-in, but what I plan is to allow people to download and upload cover art directly to and from my server.

it is rather hard to search and find cover art on the internet and make it 100% acurate. so basicly the program does alot of guessing.

Cool.

I found that if I remove everything except one album, it usually finds it.  However, it lists the cover art as e:/My Music/folder.jpg  Which is actually nothing, no cover art is actually displayed.

Please keep us updated as to your progress.

Thanks again

I think i know your problem.

you do not have your music in album folders correct and you have music in this folder.

if so you can not turn on the folder.jpg option.

that is only for people who have there music listed like

c:\my music\Beatles\White Album\
c:\my music\Beatles\Red Album\

and in that case what will be saved is.

c:\my music\Beatles\White Album\folder.jpg
c:\my music\Beatles\Red Album\folder.jpg

you can only have one folder.jpg in each folder thats why they are all the same for you.

That makes sense.

Is there a way to have your plugin store the album art in another location?  Or do I need to organize my music in folders?  If I do organize it in folders, will the current artwork carryover?  Will it help your plugin put the correct cover art with the correct albums?

Thanks

if you turn off that option, it will (or should) store the art in the Media Center Cover Art Folder.

or if you change the way you have your musc orginized (like in a Album folder) then you can turn that one. this also allows you to view your music in windows XP and see the folder.jpg

I prefer it in the file or in the media center cover art folder my self.

Which option are you referring to?

I have my Track Image Location: set to C:\Program Files\J River\Media Center\Data\Cover Art\

I also think I have it set to store the cover art in the file.  Is that the option you are referring to?  If so, why is most of my artwork stored okay?  It's only the new artwork that's giving me trouble.

Thanks again.

the one we have been talking about "folder.jpg"

on the cover art plug-in setup page.

[X] Save Cover Art In File Folder As "Folder.jpg"

turn that off

and delete folder.jpg

Sorry, I didn't even realize that it was happening that way because of a setting in the plug in, I was looking for a setting in MC.

I am in the process of moving 78gb worth of music to a new server.  Once that's done (and i back up the library), I will try the plug in again, with that option unchecked, and see how that works.  Do you think it will find all of the individual covers after unchecking, or should I go back to looking for one album at a time?

Thanks again.

i think it will work fine, but who knows. just make sure there is no folder.jpg in that folder unless you saved them into album folders.

or the program will think that all the files are from the same album.

Is there a Help File which explains how to use Cover Art Finder?  I've searched in vain on this board and on KingSpartas site.

Thanks in advance.

How do I tell it which files I want to find cover art for?

What does the Batch Process button do?

Does it search for local files before going to the internet?

put the files into playing now

A Batch (A List Of All Files To Do) so that they do not need to be done one at a time.

Yes

THanks.

How do you update the file tags - or is that done automatically also?
