Title: Track breaks on CD Burn in middle of songs.
Post by: ejrocco on January 15, 2004, 06:31:33 pm
Origanally posted 1/2/04.... no response.

I'm currently running 9.1.316 registered and recently the burns have the track breaks in the middle of the song and not between songs. The first 4 or 5 tracks are fine. It's always been the last half the CD. If you key up track 8 you get half way into track 7.

What types of files are you burning?  Does MC report their length correctly?  Do they play correctly from start to end? (no bad sections / skipping) Do you have DSP on while you burn?

Thanks.

I'm burning MP3s onto CD-Rs like I have been with Media Center for over a year. Yes it reports the track length correctly but the track is actually made up of the last half of one song and the first half of the next song. It all plays correctly but you can't skip to the beginning of a song since the break is in the middle. No DSP being used. This just started happening in December.
If I que up track 13 the song will start in the middle. It will also include the first half of the next song.

Are the mp3 files in VBR format?

Try unchecking the "Decode directly.." option to see if it fixes the problem.

Does the problem gradually get worse as you play higher track numbers? In other words, the first couple tracks are ok, then the 4th or 5th track are 1 or 2 seconds off, then the 8th track is 5 seconds off, etc. Or.. does it seem to get off suddenly on one particular track. If so, please send me the mp3 file of the questionable track.

Thanks,

Turns out to be bad MP3 files. Media Center seems to play the songs fine but not to their full length. Windows Media Player will not even play them. THANKS for the help.
