One thing that has always been a problem with me is the lack of speed in playback with large databases (I currently have about 50,000 files with a large % with Lyrics, Bios, etc) ... My DB file is around 80Megs ... The cross-fading doesnt work because there is such a large (up to 15 seconds) lag between songs ...
Have you considered using separate DB files for Lyrics & other large fields versus the regular DB fields to keep the base file size small to eliminate the wait time between songs and during file tag updates ?
Just my $0.02 ...

An improved database engine is in the works. Can't say for sure when it'll go public, but when it does lyrics and bios won't cause slowdowns anymore.

It's been over a year since this was posted. Any news on this front?

I think It Already Exists In MC11, And Has For About 8 Months Or More
Don't Look For It In MC10

The question still remains ..
..Do those that have larg(ish) databses with bios & lyrics experience slow downs in MC11 ?
I cant comment on the above as my collection does not have lyrics+bios, nor is it "large" when compared to other MC users.

It Is Faster Than MJ8, MC9, MC9.1, MC10
I am Sure it is slow on a 400 Mhz Computer however, I have a 3.somthing Ghz And it seems fine.
I do think there is still something wrong with writing Id3 Tags however. When you edit one tag it does not send it into a batch, and you must wait untill it is done writing the tag before you can do anything.
