Title: Ogg Vorbis Rip Problem...
Post by: Paul on November 30, 2002, 08:37:48 am
I have updated to version 8.0.388 on my Laptop running Windows XP Pro. Now when I try and copy (rip) a music CD using Ogg Vorbis encoder it hangs the machine. (And I have to terminate) It appears to be an encoder plug-in problem since I can still rip it via MP3 Encoder.  I have tried downloading and installing the latest ogg vorbis encoder v 2.0.58 but it still hangs.  Just for grins I tried installing onto a workstation Compaq running W2K and I get exactly the same results.  This was all once working back in version 7.0 and now seems to be broken? Anyone know what the problem might be?

Thanks for your help.

Install B392 (the latest) for v8.

Does problem still occur of you choose External Encoder? (uses oggenc.exe instead of the dll).

For a quality 8 encoding, put in the following in parameters:

%IN -q 8 %OUT

Note that it does not tag correctly (puts all info in the track name tag) and I don't know what the wildcards are for MJ. I use EAC exclusively for rips/encodes so have never bothered to find out.

If the dll keeps crashing it could be a bad install (I know...on 2 machines - same problem?)
