Title: TV Gamma - Sharpness Control...
Post by: DocLotus on January 24, 2004, 12:27:38 pm
Hi;

Have noticed something strange between the ATI A-I-W 9600 Pro TV viewer & MC 10 TV Viewer? ?

ATI... Has Gamma but no Sharpness controls.

MC 10... has Sharpness (very nice indeed) but no Gamma.

I seem to remember a Gamma when I was running my ATI A-I-W 7500 card but am not sure.

Is it possible to put the Gamma control (Ctrl+Alt+Tab) into MC10 ?

It has been like this for quite some time. I do not know why. As far as MC is concerned, it asks the TV card driver for capabilities of video properties, including sharpness and gamma, but ATI driver always says gamma is not available for adjustment. But ATI MMC always seem to have it.

Thanks ;D

I guess it's just something else we will have to wait on.

Doc,
I think Yaobing has said he believes it is a driver problem.

Yaobing, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Jim

So... why does it work on the ATI software ?

So... why does it work on the ATI software ?
They may use an undocumented interface.

Has anyone from JRiver contacted ATI to find out what the undocumented interface is ?

No I have not contacted ATI recently. Maybe I should, but I doubt if I will get an answer... My previous inquiry on this matter did not produce any answer.

Basically, as I said before, I rely on DirectShow to tell me what properties are or are not available for adjustment. DirectShow indicated Gamma is not available.
