Only the location bar has been removed from MC10.  You can still customise the top and bottom toolbars via Options>Tree & View> Toolbars.

It was considered that the location bar was using up valuable space that needed to be afforded to the list and panes for the Media Library.

After reading this I just customized the top toolbar and put a bunch of stuff in it. It looks horrible. Really cluttered. I guess this has been discussed to death but it would really be better if it were under the display and above the panes.

Also I'd like to see the Categories put on the left, perhaps inside the "display" area. There would be plenty of space for them in there and would make efficient use of space.
The DSP, equaliser etc could be made into big icons again to balance the design (something in  both the left and right) and bring focus back to them.

I saw that the question of the search bar has prompted lots of discussion too. I think its size if fine, but it's trying to do too much. Let him stay as a simple search bar and put smartlist and playlist rules somewhere else. The action window is taking shape and seems like it could be the answer.

Sorry, for leaving the topic of this thread a bit. I seem to apologising for that a lot recently. Oops.

If you don't like the buttons at the top, did you try putting them at the bottom?

It's under options/tree and view now.

I think it's a waste of a mouse button to have both left -and- right click both activate the toolbar button... why have we got a right-mouse button?  It seems standard use in virtually every windows program to have the right-click bring up a context menu or 'configure this' menu... if you want to allow left-handed type users to be able to rightclick on the buttons and use them, let them set it in the options (in that case the left-click would be 'settings').

I agree with Zarius.  It's very intuitive to be able to right click on a toolbar and select "customize" to change it -- it's also a fairly standard capability with many windows apps.
