Title: Internet Explorer Check
Post by: AniMatrix on January 26, 2004, 04:41:15 am
Hi,

I downloaded Media Jukebox 9.1 trial version. But I'm not able to install it.

I use Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 4 English.
I treid to install it on my system with Internet Explorer 5.0xxxxx and with Internet Explorer 6.0.2800.1106 including Service Pack 1, bot configurations didn't work.

I treid to install it on 2 other systems, Windows XP, dont know IE version, and Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 4 with IE 6.0.2800.1106; SP1; Q828750;. On that system it worked...

I reïnstalled Windows 2000 again, but this didn't work out.

Is there a workaround for the IE check or what or where is the installer checking for IE 5.0 of higher? I think it only checking software isn't it?

Is there a command line parameter to disable the check?

I you need to contact me, send an email, I will send my ICQ of MSN back.

Good luck with the development.

What was the full version of MC?

What error did you get?

Hi AniMatrix;

Welcome to the forum ;D

Don't know if this helps or not :o

Did you by chance use a download manager for the download ?

I had all sorts of install problems with MC files downloaded with Star Downloader.  Seems that some downloaders do not correctly download the compression format that MC uses.

Try re-downloading without any downloaders in the loop.

It isn't related to compression format, Doc.  It means that the downloader probably has trouble (creates errors) in any binary file.

Not so Jim.

Never had any problem installing any other file except MC when using Stardownloader.

I had downloaded thousands of programs & files with Star with no problems at all.  Even MJ & the eailer MC.

That is until Star released version 1.42 of the downloader.  After that time I could still download any other program except MC.  I contacted Star about the problem but they never answered so I no longer it >:(

Seems that there was something in v 1.42 that did not like the compression format used in MC.

We had a long thread on this last year & it was concluded that Stardownloader simply did not handle the compression format used by MC correctly.

It had no problems with ZIP, & other compression formats or any com, or exe, video file, etc... just MC.

I now use Opera for all my downloads with no problems at all.

A download program must be able to handle any binary file.  Stardownloader didn't.

You may not have noticed errors in other files.  Pictures and audio files, for example, might have a single bit flipped and still look and sound OK.

Yeh... that's possible ?

Star didn't  have any problem with MC itself, just the RAR compression scheme.

Oh well, thats water over the dam as I no longer use Star & all my MC downloads since then have been flawless ;D

I use Opera for all downloads now.  It has it's own bulit-in downloader.

See this:

Thats the error I get. I downloaded it 2 different times, not by Star Downloader.
If I use a download manager, it is FlashGet.

I will download it tonight or tomorrow again.  :(

Got ISDN, downloaded it on a PC with Cable. I will download it on my PC again without any download manager to exclude the problem you all mention.

Please try MC 10. (available at the top of this forum)

It may be an issue with non-US locale settings.

Thanks and let us know.

MC 10 works ok  :)

I know I don't use MM-DD-YYYY, I use DD-MM-YYYY.
And no AM/PM but 24-hour format (much better to read) :) for non AM/PM users.

I you have any further questions you could mail me.

Have a nice day.
