Is there any way to disable the "tagging mode" popup that comes up when you hit one of the little boxes? There is someone else using this system that has a tendency to whip around in MC so much so that I fear they will inadvertantly get themselves into this mode and alter tags without knowing what's going on (this sort of thing has happened before.) Now that simply hitting the little squares is enough to bring up the popup, it has become a bigger danger. If I could somehow prevent the "would you like to enable tagging mode?" from EVER coming up, I could prevent this from happening.
Thanks,
Larry

Yeah, I'd like to be able to turn that off, and only select it when I want it.

Yes, I think ther should be a way to block tagging mode, you don't use every day, just from time to time and it pops up just too often, when you don't need it at all.

not only for tagging mode, but for drag&drop tagging as well such an option would be great.... my girlfriend keeps changing tags without noticing.... (and thus without beeing able to use undo)

That's exactly what I'm referring to.

I think that the all encompassing solution here is to improve the feature (is it still called party mode?) that protects all tags from being updated. This has been requested many times in the past. The principle problems with party mode were:
- When set it did not stick after closing and reopening MC
- It was not obvious that it was set and any tag changes applied when in party mode were simply dropped when MC was closed. So you could spend ages updating tags without knowing that nothing was actually going to get updated.

JLee,
party mode isn't the solution we're (ok, at least I'm) looking for... pm disables saving changes, but it doesn't disable drag&drop of tracks to different artists/albums/... it just doesn't save them to the database and tags.
and it disables saving changes made to playlists.
what I'm realy hoping for is just a mode that completely disables tagging but still allows changing playlists, changing media views, ... and have it enabled by default.

Have you tried disabling your girlfriend?

Hello all,
New to both the forum and MC as such, but I see that you would achieve this by simply running the library through the media server, and just swap to local library whenever you need full access..

Tor,
that again not only disables tagging but all other operations (like changing playlists) as well.
samarah88,
no, no need to completely disable her - she only has read access now ;-)
