Is it possible to use the LAME encoder with Media Center?
-
;D That's funny because that was also one of my first question when starting with Media Jukebox 8.0
The answer is still the same. MC uses Lame for standard MP3. Just choose MP3 or MP3 VBR for encoding

If for some reason you want to use a specific version of LAME (special compile, whatever) you can use the External Encoder option in Tools > Options > Encoding. It will allow you enter command line options if you like.

I just replace the lame.exe in Media Center's directory with the version I want. Haven't had any bad behavior yet.

Understood, but I don't know offhand if MC is using the LAME presets (standard, extreme, etc) so I prefer to access it with the External method. Do you happen to know if your lame.exe gets replaced with new MC installs/updates, or gets left alone?

you can change this in the custom settings
if you just change it to custom you will see this
--alt-preset standard
you can then change it if you wish
