Post by: Nikolay on October 11, 2002, 08:23:03 am
New build of Media Jukebox is available for download:
ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/music/MediaJukebox8.exe

This new build automatically sets EMusic Web cookies, so that subscribers using that service can do single-click album downloads using the MJ Download Manager.

You can try the service for free by going to this Web page:

This is a repost of a problem I was having with 8.0.388. If you are using the Mozilla browser (from http://www.mozilla.org not Netscape), and you have MJ handling Windows Media, and you click on a link to launch a media stream, MJ displays a warning box with the folllowing message: "Please select file(s) to play". If you let WMP handle Windows Media, then everything works fine. Also if you use IE 6.0 or Opera, MJ launches the stream with no problems.

Bug: Reshuffle bug (as reported before) still present.

Bug: In 36x until 388: If you rename the files and two files have the same name, you get a filename collision. However, after getting this error, MJ needs to be restarted before you can reopen the properties window.

Bug: If you edit the properties of a playlist or playing now which has a file listed twice, the error "filename collision" appears even though I do not want to move the files anywhere.

I Just downloaded this version and everything looked great until I tried to make some labels. I get this error...."Can not start program 'C:\PROGRAM FILES\MEDIA\JUKEBOX\CDLabeler.exe'. Error unknown. I get a secondary error that is....."A required .DLL file, OLEACC.DLL, was not found."

I'm blaming this error to the downloading of 8.0.388 because I have not downloaded any other software recently and I used the Labeler just 4 days ago.

Please advise.......  ?

I don't and I appreciate MJ telling me that there is a problem. However, it doesn't need to get prissy and ignore me from that point onwards!! An option would be to ask the user whether to ignore the two offending files and continue...

However, when it comes to editing properties (not the file names) I'd appreciate it if MJ could work out for itself that there actually isn't a filename collision because no files are actually being renamed...

Thanks for the comments:)

I have setup shortcuts to Windows Media asx files for my favorite internet radio sites in the task bar. In the shortcut settings I have the "run:" option set to minimized (versus normal window and maximize). I have the MJ startup mode in last exit mode. I start up MJ, minimize it and then exit. When I use the taskbar shortcut to an asx file, MJ opens up in Mega-Me mode.

If, however, I open MJ, minimize it, exit and then use the taskbar shortcut to MJ itself, it opens up in minimized mode.

Also, If I click another shortcut while MJ is running (MJ is running minimized), it switches to the new station and stays minimized.

Ex:
File name = É Pr'amanhã
Shows = É Pr'amanh

or

File Name= Camané
Shows= Caman

Sorry for bad english, if you like i post a picture with the problem

Not really. If you have a combo box selected (ie Genre), then the first save "closes" or "fills in" the combo box. Try it on a non-combo box field (ie Comment) as the last selected field and Save works normally.

More of an "event" issue (programmatically speaking).

Search Criteria for View Scheme's

'Location=[N:\Full Albums'
That's my criteria and if I use it in a search it works fine.
If I use it in the search criteria, the tree is empty. Does the same with a few other criteria I specify.

Basically as a result, a few of my tree's are empty.

Bug:

Sound recorder:

I check that the signal is coming though line in.
I use the test button to set the rec level

All this works.

then I hit the "start" button to start recording, the window does say "recording" although it still says "0.00" in the time window.

when I hit "stop" it still says "recording" apparently without having recorded anything.

At this point MJ has frozen, and I have to crtl-alt-delete it away.

I've encountered the Mozilla problem too. I uninstalled Mozilla, set WMP to handle Windows Media files, but I can't rip a CD: I receive this message: "The instruction at "2x005bc4e3" referenced memory at "0xffffff5." The memory could not be read."
So can I rollback this version to an earlier version until the bug is fixed? I didn't have this problem with my last version. Are earlier versions posted on the Web site?

Download Manager

I queued about 400 hundred files yesterday evening. This morning, DM is ever downloading but its windows is frozen* except "current bandwith" information which is updated.

* (I cannot move the windows, the scrolling is frozen, I cannot select anything)

Mem Usage is normal, CPU usage is normal (very low), I have a lot a free memory (according to the Task Manager). All others applications run smoothly (including MJ itself).

I already observed this behaviour one time in the past.

Of course I prefer not to kill it as it will loss the pending queue (see my another post about "persistent queue".

Update: a few hours later...

DM is ever downloading (it is good) but its windows is ever frozen (it is strange). Remember: I cannot move, scroll, close it; the displayed list is frozen but "current bandwith" which is ever updated.

The end of the history but not an explanation:

I decided to stop the game and I exited DM through the icon tray (which was not frozen). Then I restarted it and I was pleased to see my queue again (DM losses it "only" when it crashes,  so I think it creates the queue file on the exit instead of each time a new file is queued).

Going back to the bug at the top of the page relating to Windows Media streams I had the same problem with the latest build of version 9.  Would not play a windows media stream.  Probably something to do with the new WMP9 coding but could it be sorted as Id reaslly rather not use WMP at all if I can help it...

Greetings - I just noticed in CD LABELLER, that it won't let me tick the box allowing me to PRINT TRACK LIST ON INSIDE FRONT COVER (Folded Over) ... Anyone else having this problem?

As usual I'm still having all sorts of MJ crashing problems even after just playing about 7 songs.  I keep running out of resources & even RAMBOOSTER doesn't help.

I know you keep telling me it's my computer, but why is it only MJ that I have problems with.  I have even deleted Nortons from my machine. I previously F-DISKED my computer & started again with Windows 98 SE.  I have installed more memory but that just gets sucked away too.

I am now about to add another hard drive & transfer all my business software/file to that & keep my main hard drive only for music & MJ & will be running it under Windows XP ... Wish me luck.

I love MJ ... I only wish I could get it to work properly!!!

Please don't forget to correct this bug in the next build:

"delete empty folder" option on rename operations is not taken in account if the other option "don't ask..." is set.

When we want to rename a lot of files with a directory rule it is painful to have to delete manually the empty folders after. Moreover it would be nice if MJ not only delete the first level englobing folder but also all others englobing if they become empty deleting the lower lever... not clear ? hum, an example:

Madonna/Like a Virgin/files.mp3

If I rename my files so they are moved in another folder, I would like that not only "Like a Virgin" directory removed but also Madonna directory (of course only if it becomes empty after to remove "Like a Virgin").

Now it is clear. No ?!!!  ;)

Select files in a view

MJ take memory

Cancel

MJ does'nt releases the memory

Repeat many times (a few time if you selected a lot of files) without changing the view... then you get a "Virtual memory is low" message.

Select another view

:(  Conversion problems  -  I recorded a tape to disk at 32kbs.  Wanted to compress it, so went through conversion from 32kbs mp3 to 64 kbs mp3.  It did in deed take up about 1/2 of the disk space, but it played each track in 1/4 the time.  Even Donal Duck was more understandable.  Totaly unusable.

BUG 1:

When using Media Scheduler to perform an automatic record, the following warning dialog pops up, preventing the recording from taking place.

"Media Jukebox was unable to play any of the files in the playlist. Please make sure that the path in the Media Jukebox library points to the right location. Also double check to make sure that you are not unintentionally filtering these files"

It seems like a somewhat strange message seeing as I'm trying to record, not play something. BTW, the playing now list had valid songs in it before shutting down Media Jukebox. This bug is easily reproducible on both my home and work PC.

BUG 2:

If Media Jukebox is already open when a scheduled record is set to start, the record will not be performed.

BUG 3:

Since I couldn't get the sceduler to work properly (see above). I just set up a free-running line-in record in Media Jukebox for about 3.5 hours. It was encoded as VBR MP3. Record went fine, but the position slider behaves strangely during playback:

If I try to advance past about 1.5 hours into the track using the position slider, the silder slips back to the zero position and stays there for the rest of play. The time indicator gives a negative time (approximately the time from the end of track).

I recently upgraded to 8.0.388 and now I get errors when I try to burn CDs (right when it starts burning the tracks to CD). (A device error occurred. Error number is 1022
Error data is: KEY: 5 ASC: 24 ASCQ: 0
might be one)
I've restarted, tried different mp3 files, etc. but rather than making more costers with my blank CDs while trying to write down the error messages, is there a way to just revert back to version 8.0?

The message is strange but the occurance is not.  You need more permission to write to a file than you do to read one.

THis happens to me when I have accessed my network drive in read only mode.  Thus MJ can't update the library file.

I don't know whether this is a bug or not, but when I open CD Labeler in my MJB (Plus) 8.0.388 and go to Front Cover I cannot browse to a file I want to print. When I hit the Browse button, nothing happens.
I didn't use the CD Labeler for some time but I know that some time ago it DID work.Probably that whas in an earlier version of MJB, because as far as I know I updated in the meantime
I already tried to downloaded MJB again and install it over my Plus version but that didn't help.
Any help, if possible, would be appreciated.
