Title: Req: Plugin for ATI Remote Wonder
Post by: Nolonemo on February 03, 2004, 08:57:39 pm
I just got an ATI Remote Wonder, and boy is it cool.

With hairstyle running on the TV I have access to the entire music library on my PC in the other room from the couch.  Only bad thing is that the standard transport buttons (play, rewind, ff, stop, pause) aren't recognized by MC.  I have a work around by programming the remote's 6 programmable buttons with the MC key commands, but it would be nicer to have them freed up.

So pleeeeze write a plugin!

I'm considering buying the ATI Remote Wonder II. This looks to be the best remote going right now. Is there a plugin yet?

Sounds like you have found a workaround. How well does it work, and how did you program the keys?

I bought one (ATI RW II) just now, as my first step to build my own HTPC. So...how's MC11's support for this remote, half a year later (noticed the date on the last post in this topic)?

Will I be able to control MC as other standard Windows media applications or..?

I'm at work right now, so I can't really test it :(

Thanks!

My Key Factory plugin doesn't seem to work anymore and that link is bad btw. Haven't used the Remote Wonder in a while so wonder what's going on.

Any ideas?

I don't know....but I got it working quite well without any plugins actually!

One thing though; sometimes when pressing skip, MC likes to skip two tracks instead of one...both forward and back... JRiver comment? Is this a bug or?

You no longer need to manually reassign the buttons on the RW to get the "multimedia key" buttons to work with MC.  It should work "out of the box."

Also, I don't have the "double-skip" problem with my RW2.  Getting the "multimedia keys" working on all the wacky keyboards, remotes, and other controllers out there was a major nightmare for JRiver a month or so back (thanks again, Matt).  None of them have common programming standards apparently, and many of them conflict.  The "double-skip" problem took a lot of tweaking, and is still not perfect (though I think it is mostly fixed).  Are you sure you are running the most recent build of MC and using the most recent ATI Remote Wonder software?

glynor, I've got both the latest Mc and the latest drivers for RW2 (downloaded three days ago).

I think that a possible solution to the doubleskipping problem would be to have a setting somewhere where you set a timer in ms for instance to tune it until your remote works ok..? I'm not sure how Matt implemented his solution, but it seems possible that he did just that...only hardcoded.

My RW and MC are behaving as they should, no double skipping.

I'm running win2k.

Well, there goes that idea...  :P

I believe you are correct, but I doubt that they will want to add an additional option for this...

I doubt that too :)
