Title: Real Player Support
Post by: mkutsen on February 09, 2004, 08:49:33 am
Could MC 10 use Real's open source Helix technology to support real media playback without the player?

The codecs are available for free on the internet (RealAlternative 1.20).

I'd love to do away with real player/ real one.  Annoying product in the extreme.  It seems that with the codecs being distributed online, the development team here could introduce support for them, perhaps as a plug-in to point MC to the codec distribution.

I'm using realalternative as my default player for RA etc..., but will be happier when I don't have to!

I just came across this. Was this ever resolved?

Yes!

1. Install Real Alternative and Quicktime Alternative codecs WITH the classic player.

2. Then you can delete the classic player.

3. Now MC 11 plays all the media types without any external players!
