Title: Any way to add a Web media Station to Favorites?
Post by: JustinChase on February 09, 2004, 09:06:54 pm
I want to add a station to the favorites list, so I can just click and listen, and not have to wait for the browser to open, then click on listen.

Is this possible?

I'd like to know that too.

Kind ov...

Maybe there is a better way, but I put the Radio Station I want into a playlist and then add the playlist to favorites. You still need to click on something to get it to play, but it avoids the web loading issues.

Better, but still not a 'one-click' solution.

any chance of seeing this in the future?

I just import the stream into my library and file it under a genre called Radio.  It's not as quick as a one-click solution but, to me, fits more within the scheme of how MC works.

A "play when selected" option in the organize Favorites window would seem to work (by option I mean a property that could be set with a checkbox). The favorites appear to work as a quick way to navigate to a particular object (it's off the Navigation menu). Currently, it is up to the user what they want to do with it from there, but I would think 9 times out of 10 you'd want to either view or play the selected object.

Even a right-click option would work for me

Right-click to bring up menu, select to play, listen, happy guy.

Yes, but then you'd be back to the two clicks  ;)

Yes, good point.  2 clicks - bad. :P

Maybe J River can make an Osmosis setting for me.  I just thnk about what I want to hear or do or see, and MC just does it, quickly and effeciently. ;D  That'd be worth a couple bucks, right?

if your into this streaming radio bit and you use www.shoutcast.com

there must be a way to get the currently playing information (yes\no)

I am just wondering how a media player would know the song name has changed.

This has been asked for many times, but for some reason hasn't been added. Don't know why; seems pretty straightforward. ;D

Yes, it does show the artist and track i the upper info bar/window.  I wish it would transfer to the playing now plugin, so I could rate the song as it is streaming.  this would save me some work in the future.

i'm looking for a way to one-click select a favorite radio station stream.  Mainly so I can not view the tree bar and action window. (by double clicking the seperator line/drag bar)  If I could just click to play whatever's in favorites, whether it's a radio station, or playlist,, or smartlist, etc.
