Title: whole house audio and MC
Post by: SMatson on February 12, 2004, 11:13:27 am
How can I stream music played from my PC with MC to my whole house audio system in the basement?  I have a wired LAN to the stereo.  Any solutions?

Thanks,

Scott

One option would be to run a digital signal out of the computer to the basement.  (SP/DIF or optical)

Another option would be to have some sort of thin client (PC, TiVo, etc.) in the basement that could read from the network.

Even if i intstall such a "thin client" in  the basement, how do i then control it?  Can I control it from the upstairs computer?

Are there any other type of thin clients that can recieve data sent by the upstairs computer?

Thanks

Scott

Linksys Wireless media adapter will do this, but you need a TV as part of the stereo setup, 'cause that's where the control happens (wireless remote to Linksys adapter, control on the TV, sound through home theatre system).
