Title: music player with no jukebox software?
Post by: tglennt on February 12, 2004, 03:46:09 pm
David Pogue in the NY Times today reviewed portable music playsers. He noted that one of them (the iRiver) did not come with any jukebox software, and he treated this as a negative. I want to know if the opposite is true for those who want to use Media Jukebox or Media Center to manage their music files.

I am relative newbie, but I have used Media Jukebox 8.0 on my home computer enough to like it. I do not have a portable music player yet, but I am looking to purchase one soon. My question: for someone like me who is looking to use Media Jukebox (or Media Center) software instead of the jukebox software which comes with the music player, isn't it a plus to have no jukebox software to disable? And, is it easy to synchronize and transfer music files if you have Media Jukebox software resident on both your home computer and on your music player? (As you can tell, I have yet to use a portable music player of any kind.)

Any light on this issue would be appreciated.

I don't see why you would need to disable it... Just don't install it...

Plus, there may come a time when you may want that software...

I think as long as you have a common machine, ie Nomad or Ipod you shouldn't have a problem

It's twue...It's twue...

I was initially put off that my Jukebox software (MJ7) didn't come with a portable player (at no xtra cost) though I'm not sure how I would've downloaded it. What 'gamer said is true...stick with the more well known brands and MC will support it.
