Title: Crashes when importing files

Media centre crashes when i try to import music files from my main music directory. it says something about media core and closes. This does not happen if I import in other directories so it must be a rogue file causing this anyone got any ideas? ?

I saw the same thing happen.

I then tried to figure out which file was the source of the problem. Therefore I imported only a few files at a time until I had them all imported. The funny thing was that this time MC didn't crash anymore.

That means it is not a particular file that makes MC choke.  It ain't the number of files either: sometimes MC crashes even if I import only about 30 files.

I have this EVERY time I have it search the library to import files. If I point to a particular directory that I know is new, then fine. It seems if it has much searching to do, it bombs out. Quite frustrating.

I am on version 10.0.173, which appears to be the latest. It definitely is a bug as far as I'm concerned.

Not seeing any replies here from someone in support, I guess we're out of luck.

MC 11.0.248 (4/25/05)

Is the latest.

normaly if MC crashes on a import it is due to a bad media file.

(how ever i agree it should not crash)

Try a defrag of your media files. That fixed it for me.
