Title: TV-missing Windows Media Encoder codecs
Post by: lise on February 15, 2004, 04:15:32 pm
In creating a new profile, I select Windows Media,  but in the "Choose a compressor" list, there are no Windows Media Encoder codecs.

(I have Windows Media Encoder on my system).

Windows Media is not in the list because it receives a special treatment  :)

When you select Windows Media, your recording will be in Windows Media. However the compressor selection that you refer to applies to time-shifting only, which can not be done in Windows Media format.

Ok. If I understand correctly, I can record (not time-shift) in Windows Media just by selecting it in that menu. I'm assuming that's possible, and yet I have never been able to get it to work. I can only record in AVI. What profile/settings are used when selecting Windows Media? How can I change them?

Create a new recording profile by clicking Add button. On the first step of the wizard select Windows Media (instead of AVI). In the last step you can select one of the three profiles - Best, Good, and Space Saver.
