So, will you upgrade?
If the reasons abover don't suit you, please tell us why.

Or "already have"...
-
I changed "undecided" to "I did it".
-
Already have.
Listening to: 'Heaven's Already Here ;)' from 'Hints Allegations And Things Left Unsaid' by 'Collective Soul' on Media Center 10

MC10 is faster in a lot of ways, the UI simplification is looking good. Current builds are at least as stable as the 9.1.317 release. Well worth the money - a bargain at twice the price.
-
OK, well, count 1 "for behind the scenes improvements" as a "I did it" then!

Numerous problems with 9.1 and Windows Me were never fixed. I have to assume the same will happen with 10.

Although it was left off the list:
9.0 and stickin' with it.
-
Waiting for CUE file support in 10 :)

What are the problems??
-
Done Deal ;D
-
Rumored theater mode improvements (even though it seems many remain less than fully satisfied) will drive me to upgrade when I get some other projects put to bed.

What are the problems??
Just the serious:
1) System lockup if playing w/visualizations.
2) Fault during ripping causing reboot.
3) Visualization studio unusable (cannot edit).

They are in fault fixing mode at the moment prior to the formal release of 10 so it would be a good idea to bump the threads where you originally reported these problems. Hopefully you've given full step by step details of how the problems manifest themselves and how to recreate them. If you haven't done this and have only said 'Fault during ripping' etc then it's no surprise they were never fixed.
As all 3 problems you refer to involve system instability then you should take a look at hardware and drivers for your system in the first place as this is a likely cause. Even if MC is the only application to exhibit these lockups that doesn't mean that it's not a problem with your system configuration. Visualisations and ripping are CPU intensive tasks so it certainly sounds to me like you have a hardware, driver or system config issue.

Dubster,
I'd say one of the more serious problems is that you are still running ME. From what I saw (during the brief time that I had ME installed, before it pi**ed me off so much I had to get rid of it), even Win98SE was more stable than ME!
Ahh, that seems so long ago now. What is the compelling reason for staying with an old(er) OS, especially one with such a poor reputation for stability and, well, everything?
-
Yeh... Bad ME, Bad ME ;D
-
ME? EEK!

I have not upgraded. I don't use handhelds, and did not see any compelling new features. The terribly slow tag updating with Ogg Vorbis files has not been fixed, apparently. I'm not even sure I like the new interface better than the old. But there are other reasons as well.
It was not possible to continue using the beta without upgrading. Those of us who chose to wait have been unable to try out Ver. 10 since the early days, because the beta expired while the program was still in development. From the list of new features and improvements, it is impossible to decide whether to upgrade. I'm not concerned about the paltry amount of money, but I am concerned about a few issues.
(1) Will Ver. 10 be less stable than Ver. 9.1, which is already working fine for the most part?
(2) Will development now begin on Ver. 11, requiring more upgrade fees to take part in the beta release testing? And will it again be offered with only a vague description of the plans for new features?
-
1. MC10 is ALOT more stable then any version of 9. Also for the most part it is quicker to...
2. Once MC10 is released they are starting on 10.1

All ready have! Love it, especially now that the Zen plug in is so slick! Tried many others, and this one is definately my fav. Problems get a quick response, and it soes exactly what I want it to do. Thanks guys!!
