Title: Burning DFX enhanced mp3
Post by: emf on March 06, 2004, 01:04:01 pm
Hi,

Once I have enhanced an mp3 in the playlist will it transfer in enhanced  mode to the burn list?  Will the modified wave burn retaining the DFX enhancements or do I have to save as new wav before burning?

TIA,

emf

You would have to save the wav before burning with MJ...because the DSP works only on the playback stream (I'm pretty sure about this). Using MJ's Diskwriter output, you could get those enhanced wav's...or possibly through a DFX function (not familiar with the plug-in). MC however, can do DSP enhanced burns (though it's own engine...so again, I'm not sure about DFX).

Thanks all,

I should have gone the the DFX site in the first place. Here is a c&p from their FAQ's:

1) Prepare MP3 playlist
2) Prepare DFX audio settings
3) Convert the MP3 files to WAV files with DFX enhancement
4) Use CD burner to create audio CD from the WAV files

They have details for Winamp and Musicmatch, but not MJ (why...MJ is by far more accurate and powerful), but it is easy to figure out how to convert the enhanced mp3 to wav.

PS....now if I only knew which DSP program is the best for enhancing mp3's to an audiophile's liking....

Did you get this to work OK?

When I do this (DFX enhancement on wav prior to burning it) I use MusicMatch Jukebox v8, it has an option to save the wav with the enhancement on.  Works well.

I could never find this functionanlity in MJ.

I did get this to work OK. And, yes, MJ does not allow this.

BTW check the OSS3DR7 plug in....it seems better than DFX
