I've asked about this before and would like to know how far down the road DFX and DSP settings for video might be. I was hoping to see it in 10 :'(
-
well, i cannot answer this question for sure, but here's something that might be of some help:
DFX seems to made by an outside company since it also exists for winamp, etc... You might want to look up that company and ask that question in their forums. My guess though: DFX has existed for ages now and i don't seem to recall any improvement over the past 1-2 years. Therefore i would guess that there very slim chances they are working on a version that works with video.
DSP: Not a clue, but that's the right place to ask though :P
Curious as well to get an answer.

I know that Windows media Player, Winamp, and Real Player have DFX and DSP equalizer settings enabled for video. It would really be a big plus with Media center. with all the multiple features and enhancements we are seeing. It should at least be a consideration, That's just my opinion. Even without that feature though Media Center is by far the best one out there.

Is DFX worth getting?
-
I would have to say DFX is worth it if you want to significantly improve the audio quality on MP3s. If anyone knows a way to improve the sound on videos. Don't be shy...
-
I was very disappointed in DFX. I think the built in EQ in MC does a better job. If you have a Soundblaster Audigy you can do some pretty neat stuff with the EAX console to improve the sound of MP3s.

When I started this thread I was hoping a being with awesome knowledge and power might see this and be able to tell me if DSP effects with Video is being considered at all....
-
Not any time soon.
-
I have been following the development of v10, anticipating the same thing.
Back on 03 Sept. 2003 I wrote:
For me, MC is almost perfect now except for one thing.
I really need the ability to mix audio & video files in playlists that will play smoothly. To do this MC needs to be able to pass the audio of the mpg's through the xfade & DSP functions.
Any chance we might see this ability???
To which Matt replied:
Hopefully in version 10. We have a lot of the code already written.
Now JimH says:
Not any time soon.
In the meantime I have to do all my playing in WinAmp 5.0 which can handle xfading, dsp & dfx for mixed playlists of mp3's & mpg's.
It's a shame that MC which is by far the best database manager is not up to scratch when it comes to playing various formats.
-
It does seem to be the only major drawback. MC is superior in every other way. Well, I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. :'(

I have dumped DFX. To much hazzle, especially since it has those totally idiotic windows that surfaces every now and then and wants you to get new skins, buy another product from the same company and so on. I have installed the DirectX Host plugin and use the rgsAudio High Frequency Stimulator (I read about it here on the forum). The effect is just as good and it works on a system without a monitor.
-
Mastiff,
I remember reading about it also, but Search brings up nothing. Can you point me in the right direction to getting this on my machine also?
Thanks

Gee I feel kinda lonesome saying I like DFX, But it works for me. Another plus.... A just discovered very helpful hint... If you have DFX on your windows media Player and select the newest Media Center 10 option of playing video output through windows media then you are able enjoy Videos with DFX now!
Thanks for listening Jim :o

To Absurrrd,
Well, you'll be glad to know that I also love DFX. It makes a big difference on my system.
-
It did on my system as well. I would not have been without it before I found the high frequency stimulator, it was the nagging that got me to dump it. On a system without a monitor that's really a usability killer.
