I wondered what advantages version 10 has over media center 9?
Also, does either version read and display exif data in photos? Thanks!

MC can read EXIF tags.
There are some other threads here on features.

Thanks JimH. Both version 9 and 10 can read exif? How do you get to the exif tag information in MC?

I haven't been around the forum for quite some time, but I see your sense of humor is still intact, KingSparta :) Tell me, if you would, If I install MC 10 over MC 9, will it at least work in demo mode? I am a registered version 8 user, and have been for a long time, and then I upgraded to version 9, but I know that version 10 is a pay-for upgrade, but will it at least work in demo mode to find out if I like it? And advice is appreciated. By the way, my car is old, but I kind of like that old-car smell :)

I think it's in MC 10 only, but I'm not certain. Try a search here, with an extended date range.

I am sure the answer is yes, as long as this would be the first time you installed MC10.
There has been alot of bug fixes since MC9.
the only major thing wrong I can see is
1. label program still did not work correctly with more than one image and the image link wrong\broken (I can get it to crash also).
2. does not work well with large libraries (full of lyrics, bios and notes).
I have not checked it since i last reported the problem\bug but i also have not seen a listed as fixed. both are also problems in MC9.

I have installed MC 10, and will give it a shot. I like the new features, but I still can't figure out how to access a photos exif data. That is important to me, since I am a photgrapher. Any clues?

I don't use MC for images, i still think it needs more work in this area.

but MC will not allow you to edit the exif data

Main difference... MC 10 works ;D
Low bug rate, great fixes for previous problems.
It seems that MC 9 was not really completed & had some major problems at time of final release.
Looks like MC 10 is a big step in the right direction.
I have had very few problems with it.
Is it perfect ? No! no software is perfect but MC 10 is pretty close.

Thanks for info. Is it possible to at least pick what info from the exif will show? Or is that not possigle?

I'm still using 9.1.302 btw. Mainly cause...i like the search bar where it is.
How have ppl adapted to the new search bar position ? extreme top right or so.
I don't find 9.1 buggy at all. Of course if u mean portable media i don't use it.
SO far the new feature i like in 10 is the ~limit feature. I'm waiting for JRiver to implement CUE file functionality in 10.1 (i hope :) before switching.
am i missing anything else in 10 ?? Pls be specfic in terms of features you use rather than pointing to the list as i read that already.

Well, that happens when there is a release date that is independent of the maturity and # of new features reached, and fixed in time. There is one for MC10, we'll see...
It is hard to believe that nobody in this thread has come up with a ever-growing list of new (working!) features. I still like MC10 better than any other player, though, but I myself can't find any good reason to upgrade. The handheld stuff (which will be a serious new feature) is still in progress.

New in MC 10:
Photo printing
Auto zoom & pan of images
Many improvements to Action Window
Many improvements to Theater View
Media mode buttons.
Integration into Action Window of CD ripping and photo acquisition
Improvements of Action Window for other functions
Seriously improved handheld support, including synch and WMDM support
Content access control
Definable actions for auto-run of CD and DVD
Many improvements in playback and management of WM
Numerous miscellaneous improvements, particularly in the area of ease of use
More user customizability
New features in developer interfaces
UPnP support in Media Server for media receivers
Significant other work not yet visible
Here is a list compiled by imjustagamer (thanks!) :

This isn't really accurate. We didn't have a date for 9.0 or 9.1. We thought they were ready. In retrospect, I still think so. You may not.
If you look at other products, Win98SE was better than Win98. WinXP was still better. Longhorn may be perfect. I don't think so. And so forth and so on.
