Title: How can I get a fresh install?

When moving to V10, it appears I have remnants of V9 lying about.  Certain menus are of the older type (not the new "brushed metal" look).  When I installed v10 over v9 on my test system, I didn't have the same problem.

I don't mind deleting MC completely from my system but don't wish to lose the existing database.  Are their instructions on how to obliterate MC from a system while saving the database?

That sounds like an old skin.  Try some of those available in the distribution or try updating the skin.  Some are on the Third Party board here.
