Title: How to display fields??
Post by: clout on March 15, 2004, 06:09:59 am
I have several thousand mp3's that have been tagged in "The Godfather", using the AMG lookup to fill in "Composer","Genre", Tones" & "Styles".

When I import these files into MC10 I obviously get "Composer" & "Genre" showing up in the Library because these fields exist in MC, but try as I might I cannot get the other fields.

I have tried creating user defined fields for "Style" & "Tones" in various categories & various data types. However if I try to update library from tags, I cannot get these fiels to import.

The information is definitely in the tag, showing in file type info as "TXXX (Tones)" & "TXXX (Styles)".

Does anyoe know how I can import these fields into the MC library?

You could try using an application that does recognise those fields and copy the tag data temporarily into another field (e.g. Comments) that both applications recognise.  Then use MC to copy the data from there into the custom field you just created.

Seems a roundabout way to get the information from the ID3v2 tag. MC knows that it is there, (It shows in the AW/File Type Info), I just can't seem to get the right paramaters for a field to display it.

Have you tried adding a new view scheme?

Right click on Media or Audio or wherever you want to put it.

My problem is not with showing the fields I create, but how to create one in the first place.

In the example below, what steps are needed to create 2 fields that will reflect the information in red.

What should the fields be named, what category (general, extended etc) and what type of data (user, calculated, string, semicolon delimited, etc)?
.........
ID3v2 Tag: (19092 bytes)
  TXXX (TONES): Poignant, Playful
TXXX (STYLES): Rock & Roll,Singer/Songwriter,Folk-Rock,Album Rock

  TCOM (Composer): Dylan
  TPE2 (Band/orchestra/accompa..): Empire Burlesque
  TPE1 (Lead performer(s)/Solo..): Bob Dylan
  TRCK (Track number/Position ..): 1
TBPM (BPM (beats per minute)): 86
  TALB (Album/Movie/Show title): Empire Burlesque
TIT2 (Title/songname/content..): Tight Connection to My Heart (Has Anyone...
  TCON (Content type): Rock
  TYER (Year): 1985
COMM (Comments): <too large to display>
