Title: Need help to stop MC Freezing / Hanging
Post by: davidne0uk on March 18, 2004, 08:21:01 am
MC stops responding due to the playing now getting populated with the entire library. I do not ask MC to do this, but some how now and again if the playlist is cleared and MC has been closed and restarted it auto populates playing now.  It is very frustrating.

How do I prevent this from happening?

Please Help

Davie

Check the startup options.  You can start somewhere other than media library.

Also check Tools> Options> General Tab and look at the setting you have for Play Button.  You might want to change it to 'Play Playing Now'.

I have taken the suggestions on board and this has improved the situation., but it still happens when someone comes along and doesn't know the limitations of the system.

Why does this happen?

Is there any way this will get fixed?

If not, is there anyway to set a limit for the amount of files that get loaded into the playlist?

What is the limit?

Thanks Davie

I have noticed that I often accidentally double-click my Media Library bar when I just like to expand it. It works in that way with the Windows Explorer. Unfortunately with MC that puts the whole library into the Playing Now.

In my case that doesn't hang MC, but changes my current Playing Now list to about 10000 unwanted entries and also puts all images running in the slide show.

I have the option "Douple-click: Replace playing now (all)" enabled, because I like to use that for file selections (but not for the whole library).

I only have about 8500 tracks.

Why would mine hang?

Could this have something to do with song / album titles having illegal chars in there names?

My apologies to all. This hanging is due to the limitations of Cinemar Music Lobby and not Media Center.
