Title: Firewire Drives

I'm planning on moving some files to my firewire drive.  

If I update library - remove files which do not exist - will MC remove the stuff on my firewire drive if it isn't connected to my PC/switched on at the time?

If it does - is there a workaround?

As an aside, I saw a post about the Maxtor 250 gig firewire/usb drive a couple of days ago, which mentioned that the USB connection was faster.  On paper that's true, but my experience is that connecting the drive with the firewire cable gives much faster operation.

That's a pain really, as I don't have the drive switched on all the time. Never mind.

'Update library' wont delete missing files (or any files for that matter) on a network drive unless you check the box to delete missing files, then the other check box to get MC to search network drives. So a basic update library search will not cause any problems.

Your right: USB faster on paper, but firewire is faster in practise. I have mentioned this fact before (see link below). Only problem with firewire is sometimes XP wont shut the drive down when you stitch the PC off (something MSFT said they would fix in the next serivce pack). Either way unless your moving large amounts of data there's little difference.
