Here's another thread on MC10.  It's a poll asking why people with MC9 would upgrade to MC10.  81% of people said they had already upgraded to MC10.

I agree that the prcing is very fair and would like to congratulate you all on a good release.  I think it's fair to say that MC10.0 (until we see the hidden stuff) has added polish rather than innovation and that is a good thing.

This is now a good platform for 10.1 which I hope will add the innovation and exciting new features that will set MC even further apart from it's main competitors.  Is this how you see 10.1 developing?

Again,  great job despite a bumpy ride.  Well done.

Media Jukebox 8 owners can upgrade to Media Center 10 for $14.98 USD ...

Hmmmm(?) ... I believe I was charged $24.98 when I purchased MC10 with my MJ8 license just a couple of weeks ago.   Could this be right??  Although, still worth the extra $$ ...

That's business.  Didn't you ever buy something in a store only to discover that it was in the sale 2 weeks later, I know I did.  :(

JRiver have the right to alter their pricing policy whenever they like to remain competitive.

A couple of weeks ago you exercised a judgement as to whether MC10 was worth $24.98.  Your judgement was good. Your clairvoyency powers were bad but you still got a good deal.

Hi,

I can't wait to get the final version of MC10! It works great with all these Greek names of songs, artists etc.

One question, though: I've already purchased a 10 Beta license. When I upgrade to final version of MC, how much will I be charged??

One more thing. The country code for Greece (30) does't work in the TV tuner!!!

You will not be charged any extra for v10 when it's released if you already have a v10 license.  The license you have now is fully valid for the released version.

JRiver may or may not decide to charge an upgrade fee for the next beta (10.1).  This information has not yet been released.

Great timing -- I was just finishing up my trial of MC 10 (4 days left) and had decided to buy it.  How wonderful to get an unexpected price drop of $15!

Note: when I went to purchase it, all the screens and the confirmation email say the purchase price was $24.88  (not 24.98).  Just FYI.

It sounds like you're using 9.1 with a V8 license.  There is a FAQ here that explains which programs work with which licenses:

Congratulations.

MC10 is very nice.

You might want to look at the way your online purchasing works once the user has purchased a licence, seeing as presumablu you'll be getting a lof of new registrations soon.
Being presented with "Welcome to Media Jukebox" is a little silly after you've just purchased Media Center.
This little thing would make the whole process a little more professional.

Again, congrats.

Can't wait to see what the 1/3 we haven't seen yet looks like... hope it doesn't break too much :)

Scott.

Is the Music Lobby support the cover art conversion thing, or does it include discrete zone control and Multi server databases as well?

Also is the "musiclobby support" feature implemented now in the current beta, or will it have to wait until the final release to play with it?  If it is supposed to be there now, the cover art conversion is not working yet.

JohnP,

If your asking whether any music service through MC has been unveiled yet then the answer is no (inc 10.0.100). Look for it in the released product which has been bumped into the future a bit.

One of the many new, cool features added for MC10 is the ability to play back WMA streams through the TiVo HMO. However, this functionality is not working for all WM audio streams (as has been reported numerous times on both the TiVo and the MC10 discussion boards), since MC mistakenly identifies some audio-only WM streams as WM video streams instead.

My question is this: Does JRiver intend to release ver 10 with this HUGE (at least for those of us using the TiVo HMO with MC) bug unfixed and undocumented? It would seem to me to be a showstopper bug if you are indeed going to advertise that MC can now do WMA stream playback via the TiVo HMO. To say that your product has this functionality, and to release a version of it that only partially implements the functionality seems to me to be a fundamentally inconsistent practice.

Hi,

Actually, I was referring to the comment that used to be in the first post in this thread (appears to have been edited out) that talked about additional support for musiclobby and net remote which are 3rd party UI applications.

I was just trying to find out what that was about, I.E. what new cool features would be enabled by that.  I have heard that there will be cover art conversion that will be more "Flash Friendly" coming soon.  I was trying too see if there wre any other cool features lurking as well.

It's funny. I work as a teacher in China. We do not make much money. I have been doing the reliable "format and reinstall XP" every 29 days so I could continue using MC. Now if that's not liking an app, nothing is!
Anyway, today I finally persuaded a friend to get me a license.

The $25.00 is a good fraction of a month's pay, but I am well pleased with MC and they deserve the money they make from it.

My points are, first, where are you going to find as many well thought out features in any software for that price?

Second, to JRiver, at this price even a cheapskate like me can justify the purchase. At $40.00 I could not.

At the top of this thread JimH listed upgrade prices as:

Special prices now apply:

Media Center 9.1 (current version) for $19.98 USD (save $20)

Media Center 10.0 only $24.98 USD (save $15) A purchase of 10.0 will also allow you to use 9.1.

If you already own an MC 9.1 license, you can upgrade to 10.0 for $9.98 USD
Media Jukebox 8 owners can upgrade to Media Center 10 for $14.98 USD

I am a registered user of MC 9.1 but when I attempted to purchase 10 got an upgrade price of $14.98.

In a previous message, JimH responded to someone else having this same query that he was probably using MC 9.1 as a MediaJukebox 8 registered user.  How do I know?  Is there some way to find out?

Thanks,

charlie

cfastner,
If you still got your mjr registration file it'll say. you can either just look at the name of the mjr file (should be called media center/jukebox-reg# where reg# is your reg issue.) You can also open the file  and it'll tell you the version in line 5
 Hope it helps,

That means you have a version 8 license.  MC 9.1 will work with a version 8 license.

Well, since 10.0 turns out not to have any of the features that were at least hinted at and which helped induce me to buy the upgrade, I for one would be rather annoyed if I also had to pay for 10.1 (but even more annoyed, I suppose, if I still didn't get the features*).

(* For the record, my top priority features were ripping multiple tracks together, and dynamic playlists on iPod. )

Well since we are on the topic (sort of),  MC 10 doesn't do anything for me either that was already in 9.1.  As sad is it might be, the things I find important are not very important to the rest of the community or at least not to JRiver.

All that said, MC 9.1 still does more for me than any other player, so I really have nothing to complain about.

That is VERY important to me.  I didn't realize that was implemented.  I tried it on the .097 relase and it did not seem to be implemented.  I would be very interested in seeing that work.  That one alone would be worth the price of admission for me.  Of couse all my other multi zone multi server stuff is still holding me back from having the best Music Server platform on the planet, but I am a patient man.

I'm using MJ8 with a MJ7 license.  I don't suppose I qualify for the $15 deal?
There is no special upgrade price from V7.  Sorry.

Jim, I'm not sure what you mean by invalidating the V10 license? I did want to upgrade to version 10 but it should have been at $9.98 and not $24.98.

You will need to buy again, but please check that what you're getting (both license and price) are what you want.
