1)Is it possible to doublcick on a file(song) and rather than having it play, have it sent to an external source?
2)Is it possible so that on startup the left viewing pain will automatically be minimized so that I don't have to always do that first?
3)Eventhough no songs are playing the media center is still using cpu cycles around 6% I think. Why and how can I minimize this?
Thanks

1) nope. your choices are only those under tools > options > general. look under the 'behaviour on double click' section
2) dont think so
3) mine uses 2% when the screen's up and 1% when minimised - i doubt you can reduce that

Using Spyxx from MS VC++ 5.0, I've noticed that MC issues a wmpaint command (repaints MC) at regular intervals of a second or two. (even if MC is in a stopped state). This of course, accounts for some of that cpu usage. It is the only app I have found that does this. I'll try WinAmp, WMP, and a few others later.

I do this by using Girder (www.girder.nl) to start MC. I tell girder to:
- start MC
- check if MC is present (usually takes about 4 seconds to fully start)
- double click the vertical slider separating the tree from the list.
