Using MC is like a discovery journey. That's the good side. However, sometimes it takes quite some time to figure out how to get to a certain result.
I am not sure how familiar Jim and Matt are with the wiki concept but for building up a dynamic knowledge base/manual for MC this would be ideal.
If you don't know what a wiki can do for you, look here: www.wikipedia.org.
Ben from www.netremote.org has also started to put together a wiki and I am sure it didn't take him more than two hours to set it up.
A wiki would have the advantage to better structure the vast know-how contained in this forum and in the brains of all MC users. And best of all, it is a work of this community.
How about it? :)

Maybe.

Maybe.
The Master himself responding to my humble thread? ;)
I am awed! :o

Hmm,
the best reference is this forum, right now. The help system is the last place where I would search, so... are you suggesting to move the help system into a wiki doc? Or this forum? The problem is that the search system has to be up to par, and that's difficult. Wikipedia is so-so in terms of search efficiency, I think they use simple keyword matching. Same for this forum. Something more google-like would be a lot better.
In summary, can you elaborate?

What I am suggesting to think about is to capture the knowledge of places like this forum on a wiki.
A wiki is fully searchable (like Google) and is basically a giant FAQ maintained by and for the users. The MC help file would still be there but all the good ideas that usually don't make it into a helpfile would be captured. The forum would also remain but everynow and then some good bits of threads would be copied onto the wiki.
What you end up getting is a great knowledge base. :D
