I'm interested in the results and your opinion on how each mode works.
-
I chose standard, because Hairstyle is still not onfigurable enough.
-
What size monitor are you using? And how does that look? Do you display coverart or Titles?
-
i think a few views should have been added.
like Images (thumbnails)
I prefer the text mode but this is a good pole so that J River Can See Where And What Users Are Using And It should have all view options on the poll.
JimH If Your Interested, Could You Modify The Pole A Bit?
-
I added a couple choices, but I think this poll is confusing.
It would be nice to separate ordinary PC useage of MC from useage as an HTPC -- a Home Theater PC -- where the screen is often a projector display or at least a very large TV.
-
Theatre View on the HTPC with a remote but I often toggle back to the PN list in standard view because, as you say Theatre View is not configurable enough and only shows track name.
I use a 42 inch Plasma Monitor in 848*480 resolution set by PowerStrip.
I can't display cover art in Theatre View as it's too slow to show cover art in absolutely every level of every view scheme so I just settle for list view. I'm patiently waiting for 10.1 to address this.
So, like King says, your poll needs more options before I can vote.

*MC on a HTPC
*connected to a TV via S-Video
*The HTPC runs NetRemote to show playing now information (gets around a problem I have with Fullscreen Track Info pages crashing after a couple of albums)
* controlled with a ProntoPro / Girder and a Simpad running NetRemote
I'd use TheatreView if it was more configurable and I could figure out a better way of controlling it remotely
...thats my ha'pennyworth fwiw

I primarily use Theatre View on a 55" rear projection tv. Theatre View finally has the minimum number of required features to make it usable. I'm hoping that future versions will extend its' cababilities further to include the following:
- More robust TV/PVR features with support for Electronic Programming Guides and hardware based encoders such as the Haupauge PVR-250/350
-DVD cateloging (with control of DVD changers via serial connection)
-The ability to use an inexpensive thin client hardware solution (such as the Media MVP) for affordable display in multiple rooms.
For me, this would enable me to affordably play all of my media using a remote control from any room in the house. Not to mention that this setup makes the media accessible by any family member in the house, as well as guests and party participants. I do all of the heavy configuring in Standard view so everyone else can enjoy just playing the media with little training or fuss. Standard view is already so feature packed compared to the competition that I feel that more focus should be dedicated to beefing up Theatre View.

I'm still running MC9.1 on my Shuttle XPC on a 43" plasma TV at 1360x768 (downscaled to 1024x768). I use Girder and Hairstyle for browsing my library and playing tracks by remote. When I want to do any tagging, I switch to standard mode and use my laptop's keyboard+trackpad with Win2VNC to control the other machine.
-
i use a 30" lcd tv/monitor set up as an extended screen of my pc, 1024*768 resolution. mc in usually windowed mode (on the lcd tv) if im working on the laptop, or the big tv as the primary display when i want a full screen movie.
i use the hairstyle mode and while its okay to adjust something once its been queued its hard to perform anything trickier than play / stop/ volume / skip to next song etc.
to control it i use irman with a universal remote and for anything more complex i have a couple of wireless mice lying around the room (1 on desk, 1 by couch)
-
Do you use two wireless mice with one receiver?
-
nope, but that would be cool if it worked.
i have a new one that i use on the desk to work. the other one is old and i keep it in the vicinity of the couch (usually down the back of the cushions or under old newspapers) and its connected seperately to the usb hub. to be honest i only use it when i cant figure out the command on the universal remote.

Gyration (http://www.gyration.com/ultragt-compact.htm) all the way, baby!
-
What's this, "Only use MC on a regular PC" option? I use standard view (and my vote reflects this), but the "standard" PCs I run it on are hooked to 42" plasma displays.
-
"regular PC display", meaning something that wouldn't usually be considered a home theater display (projector or plasma display or large TV). This is why I think this poll is a little confusing.
