Title: File licence error
Post by: drctl on March 28, 2004, 10:44:24 am
I have used the Media Jukebox program for several years with great success, however now I have a problem. I recently uninstalled and re-installed MJ 8.0. Now whenever I try to play a song I get an error message:

Playback Engine: Media Jukebox is unable to aquire license for this file
Windows Media Error 0x80070020

I am using the free version, if that makes a difference. I would consider buying the pay version if I knew that it would fix the problem.

I have reinstalled, checked for updates, re-scanned all my music files, all with no success. Can anybody help???

Thanks

Are you using the latest build available on our download page?

JimH
I downloaded the most recent version today and re-installed it. I currently have 8.0.400. Is there a more recent version?

No.  But I see now that you're probably trying to play licensed WMA content.

Where did it come from?

It seems that all the files that won't play came from cd's that I own and have ripped into my computer. The files that I have downloaded from the net are ok.

If you had "Personal Rights Management" enabled when you riped them they may not play if it thinks your not the owner.

try to re-rip the CD's and make sure you do not have this option enabled.

I have never had this option selected. Any other ideas?
