Title: asx turning into mcsf -- very annoying

when i go to listen to anything in wma format, downloaded with a asx extension windows somehow makes it into a mcsf file and opens it with media center. I don't know how this happens as the file is still a asx file, just with a renamed extension. If i try to set a default and get windows to play it in windows media player it will ignore it and open it in media center anyway. If i save the file windows media player refuses to open it until i change the extension to asx. what is going on???
