Title: RM streams failing to play
Post by: shAf on April 09, 2004, 07:02:14 am
When I try to play a RM stream via "open URL", I get a message to please enter files to play (??)  The URL has the format:
rtsp://media.cbc.ca:5078/live/stjohns.rm ... and may not work because sometimes the server is busy.

When the server is not busy, clikking on the wwwpage hyperlink will properly load RealPlayer and play ... but pasting the stream' URL in MC10.106 will yield the above message.  What does it mean??

I don't think the rtsp:// is recognized by MC as a URL.

I've never seen the server prefix ... Is it now standard?  Would it be an easy fix for JR to add?

The RM support is not that good, which i guess is mostly RM's fault.

MC allows the Real Player to steal associations and downloads many streams instead of streaming them.  MC won't even recognize some of the newest RM links. I realize that Real keeps coming up with new ways to link to their media as well as new codecs, making it difficult to keep up.

That link plays in Media Player Classic/RealAlternative so it can't be that new!
