After seeing the original topic on the XP Thunderstorm skin, I downloaded WindowBlinds and the Thunderstorm skin, and now my MC Thunderstorm skin is acting up!
?
The tooltips in MC are showing black text on the darkest colour in the thunderstorm skin, making it illegible... (the tooltips in XP show white text on that background). Anyone any ideas?
-
It's not the skins that are acting up... The tooltips will use the windows color scheme. (I think). If I close down MC, then change the color of the sub design in Dsplay properties then open MC up, tool tips show up...
Hmmmm Matt, JimH, or whoever, WOuld it be possible to be able to change the color of the tooltip text?
For me I'll take the loss on the tooltips to keep this skin.

Hi EpF;
It sounds like WindowBlinds is trying to put some of its skinning onto MC. This sometimes causes problems in the form of a conflict in skinning.
WindowBlinds has a feature to stop it from trying to skin any selected item or program when such a problem arises.
If you are using WB 4, double click on the WindowBlinds icon in the Task Tray...
* Select Per Application (at the 9 o'clock position).
* Click the Add Application button & browse until you find Media Jukebox.exe.
* Under the Total exclusion button, put a check mark in the Ignore this application and do not skin it.
* Click on Apply Changes.
The next time when you load MC, WindowBlinds will not attemp.to skin MC.

Thanks a million, Doc! I will try that as soon as I get home tomorrow... :)
-
I tried it, It doesn't work..
I don't think this has to do with WB4. I think the tooltips use the windows coloring....
But then again, I could be wrong
-
A shot in the dark, but have you tried Tools / Skins / Skin Effects & tried changing the color there?
-
Ok, This is how to be able to see the tooltips with the Thunderstorm XP skin.
Goto Desktop
Right click and goto properties
Appearance
advanced
Other Advanced controls
Select Tool Tips from the drop Box
The first line is the box color, Th esecond is the font.
Change that to the desired colors and no more problems!

Thanks for the help guys, but I followed both suggestions, and in MC I'm still getting black text, even though in that advanced options box the font colour is white... Ah well, I'm not sure I'll stick with WindowsBlinds anyway....

Yes, that works but, (you just knew there was going to be one didn't you?) it will also change some of your WindowBlinds colors. It depends on the skin & how old or how far back it goes. Some skins handle changes better then others.
If you later on select another WindowBlinds skin then go back to the first skin the color overrides will often not be what you had set them to.
To get back to the original color of your changed setting, be sure to save all your changes such color, fonts & etc under Properties/Themes & give it a name that you will remember later. That way if you change skins then go back you will have a saved setting to load; once loaded Windows will remember it.
