Maybe I'm stoopider than most people but would it be cool to alert people when they try to close MC while they're trying to rip or burn CDs? ;)

Warning:
Do not close MC when your ripping or burning
You have been Warned!

It sounds better with my English accent. ;)

I would like to see the option for the "X" close button to minimize MC to the system tray instead of closing it. Other programs do have this option and you can still exit from the File menu or from a right click on the tray icon.

maybe if your a northerner!

If an exit confirmation were to be added, I'd hate--I'm using the word HATE here--to see it be anything but optional. One of my utmost pet peeves in applications are stupid exit confirmations that cannot be turned off.

Understood but IF you were ripping and/or burning wouldn't you want that alert?

This sounds like a good option but I have never accidently shut it down when ripping.
you'd have to be stoopider than most (with my London accent ;))

The usual behavior with any multitasking software is to warn on exit if there is something going on in the background. E.g. when printing a large amount of pages or updating the database.
I think that it should be so with MC too.

Ah, someone understands! :)

Not necessarily. Maybe I'm ripping or burning, but decide I need to reboot, or I just want to exit MC for some other reason. In that case, I would not want an annoying exit confirmation.
There is zero reason for an exit confirmation to be anything but an option. I think it is a good option to have, but absolutely, positively, objectively, and definitively not a good thing to force on everyone.
So it's not that I (or others) don't "understand", I just don't want it forced on me, because I find the annoyance more of an issue than accidentally exiting (which I've never done anyway). And yes, lots of applications (multitasking or otherwise) have exit confirmations, but the well-designed ones make it optional, and enabled by default.
