Title: Instant Seeking... Possible?
Post by: Omni on April 14, 2004, 05:32:11 pm
I know I set this up correctly once eons ago--like for the initial version of 9.0 beta--but I cannot get MC to instantly seek anymore regardless of the settings I use.

Desire:  During playback, have MC instantly start playing the next track while instantly abandoning the current track.

Results:  No matter what settings I use, I cannot seem to turn off the fade-out effect.

In the playback options, under the "Alternate" tab (so the settings only take effect if I hold down the ALT key), no matter what settings I use, I can't get MC to instantly stop playing the current track and start playing the next track (whether I use the "next" button or just double-click on the track).

I'm using the Wave Out device, and yes, the buffer is set to the default 0.5 s, but 3.5 to 4 seconds of the current track still continues to play before the new track fully kicks in.  (In other words, the 0.5 seconds does not account for the 4 second fade-out.)

Any ideas?  Is this not possible anymore?

With MC 10, it's no longer "if you hold down alt."

Alt+1 (also available in the menu or right-click on DSP button) toggles the playback settings.

Well, by George, you're right!  Heck, there is even a menu item stating as much.  (I just clicked right past it and didn't even notice.  ::))

To my credit, though, I did click on "Help" (in the Playback options dialog), and the help file still says to hold down the Alt key.   :P  (I guess you guys missed that page when you were updating it for MC 10.)

Thanks for clearing that up for me!

Another proof that this forum makes the help system almost redundant :D
