Title: Media Center 10.0.116 Available
Post by: Matt on April 16, 2004, 04:19:49 pm
Please use this thread for bugs only.  If you're not sure whether it's a bug, or you need to ask a question, please start a new thread.

The latest version of 10 is here: ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/music/MediaCenter100116.exe

Information on upgrading or purchasing is here:
http://www.musicex.com/mediacenter/purchase.html

10.0.116 (4/16/04)

1. Changed: MP3 plugin preserves album count when saving an ID3v2 track number. (i.e. track number formatted like 3/8)
2. Fixed: MP3 plugin could not open / edit ID3v2 tags with Unicode filenames. (requires short filename support to be enabled)
3. Fixed: If the playback engine encountered an error, it could cause a crash after displaying the error message. (only existed since 10.0.115)
4. Fixed: In some cases, the MC window could grow too large and stop painting its borders.
5. Fixed: MC would retrieve cover art for the same CD multiple times when ripping multiple CD's.
6. Fixed: Auto-run would not be disabled in some cases on XP when inserting a CD.

Hi,
when opening MC with active playing now, MC takes almost 10secs before any action can be taken... this appeared on build 114 (if not mistaking).
Regards

Er... what is short filename support?  I can't find any mention of it in Help either in MC or W2K.  It evidently isn't enabled on my system, 'cos MC still crashes if I try to convert a filename containing Unicode characters.

As far as the "Suppress Silence" function tweak in version 10.0.115, why not add a checkbox option to "ignore silence within a track" (meaning from the very first sound to the very last), or alternatively name it "only suppress silence at beginning and end of track"?

That way, extraneous silence only at the beginning and end of a song will be eliminated, completely preserving the integrity of the song itself...

The LAME MP3 encoder doesn't support Unicode.  We're still searching for a workaround.

Today's fix applies to tagging existing files.

maybe someone with the lame source could make Unicode work on lame.

Reported before: ;)

F2 a library entry and tab through Genre.  If the entry in Genre is upper case and you have a lower case category it'll replace the upper case with lower.  (ie Rock becomes rock).  Not earthshattering but VERY annoying! :)

Bug or just me?

I double click a mp3 and it plays fine. I then import the files within that folder and they don't show up in the media library.  yet the song is still playing and shows up in playing now.  It must be 5 O'cClock someplace I need a drink, maybe that will help.

When start Ripping in Secure Mode, and WMA Lossless Codec is checked, I get this Error Message from cdripper:"Error Reading input File!"  (Rip & Encode Simultaneously)

If Encode after Ripping MC Freezes.

PS:MC´s GREAT! Best Audio Prog ever - til´ this little BUG! Thanks Guys! ;D

Okay there really is a bug for the update library from tags - for whatever reason the comments column will not update - I erased comments from my files - went to update library - doesn't delete them.  I checked both v1 and v2 tags.

It also imports audio files (MP3, APE, APL, MPC) if they are dragged, though the option is deselected.

Well I tried a different brand of remote and it worked ok with the built in IRMAN plugin however I really would like to use my other remote as it is a multimedia PC remote.

Is it possible for a remote to transmit the same code for different buttons. Volume up and Volume Down are the same code and number 5 is the samve as 0.

Problem with Theater View on a 3 display system.

Strictly speaking, I don't think this is a bug, but it would sure be nice if there was a fix or workaround. The problem I am having is with my Matrox Parhelia and a 3 display setup (2 LCD's and 1 Sony WD900 CRT).

In a 3 display setup all 3 monitors must have the same resolution. The result is one display (instead of 3 independent displays) with one very large desktop (3840 x 1024).

I can open MC 10.0.116 in standard view and move it around to any one of the three display screens as a windowed application. The problem arises when I switch to Theater View which, apparently, is not a "windowed" mode - if that's the correct term.

No matter how I try to configure Theater View's display mode, I can't get it to show up ONLY on a section of the desktop (i.e. on one of the 3 physical display screens. It either displays across all three screens (which makes sense since all three displays are merged into one display as one large desktop); or, if I reduce the resolution, it opens on the center display and kills whatever was showing on the left and right displays.

If "Theater View" could open in a resizeable window, like "Standard" view, then I could drag it to the physical display I wanted.

"Windowed View" doesn't work for me aesthetically.

Any thoughts?

When I was in Full Screen and moved the cursor to the bottom right corner to "Exit Current View", the label was covering the button, making it hard to get to the button.

Later, I tried to duplicate the problem and noticed that it depends where you bring the cursor to.  In other words, if I slowly bring the mouse to the top or center of the button, I'm fine.  But if I quickly move to the bottom right of the screen, I get the text box covering the button.

It would be better if the text box was never in a position of almost entirely covering the button.

Within the last few MC updates, MC now sees the hard drive that my music collection is on as a handheld device (in addition to the actual hard drive that's also listed), and MC scanned it for 10 minutes the first time I opened the drive through the Drives & Devices tree.  Subsequently, every time I try to navigate that drive it scans it incessently, not allowing any type of action.
Also, possibly not coincidentally, Media Center changed all my File Location settings under Options back to the defaults.  Seems I've been unknowingly ripping CDs to the wrong folder and had to move them into my normal library drive.  Nothing else was reset, that I've noticed.

The setup doesn't remember the "Shell Integration" setting, every time I install a new build I need to untick this setting (which I don't want to have).

Cover Art

I'm missing cover art for a few albums, so use the (incredibly handy!) "Find CD" option under Playing Now to find and download one.

However, MC doesn't seem to pick up on a newly-downloaded image until after a complete restart. Even changing albums and going back to the original one doesn't make the cover art appear.

If there's a menu option to kick the search into life that I'm missing then I apologize, but (1) it's not obvious and (2) it shouldn't be necessary IMO.
