I read an article for Media Jukebox in CPU magazine.

AVSforum should be an option, i am sure quite a few people come from there considering the praise media center gets over there. That is where i found out BTW.

When Napster was being shut down, I started looking for a replacement and came across "AfterNap". It was intended to be a legal alternative to Napster. I Emailed an opinion to who I now know was JimH, never expecting a reply. He did. I've been around ever since. My first version of Media Jukebox was 5. It has come a very long way.

Absolutely no clue how I ended up here!
I was using Musicmatch and I think after they told me that there would be no support for popular-but-not-quite-mainstream codecs (e.g. APE) and that they would not continue to honor the lifetime upgrade license I had, I was hunting around for a replacement.
Of course, what I found (MC) was much more than a replacement. After using MC for a bit, I permanently uninstalled MM.

Nor I...
This was the first forum I ever joined, though. HA about 6 months later. Player lineage as I remember: RealPlayer>RealJukeBox>MJ/MC 7/8/9/10 (+ WinAmp)
C2cubed...
MJ5 huh? Did it look like an unskinned 7/8? Did you have a 'stache then?

MJ5 was unstable as hell on my Win98SE system. Maybe others had that same problem. 6 was a little better but I couldn't get it to burn. They were both about as basic as you can get skin-wise. 7 changed everything and it hasn't levelled off yet.
And I've had a moustache ever since one would grow. Some say even before one would grow. It used to be brown but someone has been sneaking in when I'm asleep and bleaching one hair at a time. That must be VERY meticulous work. But it's probably getting easier.

same thing happened to my mustache, I finally sabotaged the guy and shaved it off! Trouble was I didn't recognize the guy in the mirror, (had that mustache since I was 17 - I am now 53).
Found MC via download.com a couple of years ago now.

Adam Shawley converted me. You could say I was a member of the anti-MC9 crowd who couldn't believe that someone would actually go out and buy a program like this. Then I bought a Gen 3 iPod, and came to the realization that MC9 was a program I couldn't live without. Now I'm an MC10 zealot.
I've seen the light, and the light is MC10!

If you name a media app for Windows, I've installed it. Some excelled at this or that, some were plain lousy all the way through.
Then about a year ago I came upon MJ 8 and thought I'd give it a try. Saw something on the site about a beta for a Media Center. Started in. Trashed my MP3 tags with that version. Liked the idea of it so well that I stayed and after all this time finally got someone with US dollars to buy me a license.
MC is the best and mainly because the MC crew is so darn responsive. Without that willingness to consider our ideas and desires I'd probably not have stayed with it. But the promise of a better app was always there and most importantly acted upon.

Did a search on cnet.com for jukebox software, looked at a few, tried Media Jukebox 8, bought it, and have had it ever since.
-
At my age my brain can't remember how I found it (MJ7 that was) but I'm glad I did!

The reason I moved to MJ was that I have a lot of New Age and Meditation music and there was no way to automatically retrieve track info from the net, so I had to enter everything by hand. Windows Media Player was totally inadequate for that purpose as was the handling of the database, so I searched for other MusicJukeboxes in www.cnet.com. The excellent user reviews at that time (MJ7 and 94% users satisfaction) made the decision making easy and I have never regretted it!

Actually, I think it was years ago I was looking for a program to splice/edit mp3s and found MC's Sound Editor through mp3.com. After another year of playing around with CDs, I decided to put all my music on hard disks. Good deal. And well, it was obvious that MC was the best software for managing music, of course.

From Tivo forums.... I got the Home Media Option, and was looking for a program that would work with TIVO - and I got hooked immediatly!

I started with Musicmatch but after 5000 or so MP3 files, it slowed down so badly that I had to find something else. It is a toy really.. After investigating the problem and having no solution, one of the forums suggested I try Media Jukebox... Best thing going. I have 0ver 16000 music files from my CD collections and it works great. Keep up the good work.

I'm one of those people who started out with musicmatch (and like many of them, I REALLY dislike it now!), which I got free with a walkman. After that, from being online I kept reading statements about JRiver MediaJukebox being the best of its kind, so I ended up at Musicex. Couldn't believe how comprehensive MC was when I tried it first (I didn't try MJ, as MC seemed more all-encompassing). I was really surprised at how MC did all the things that musicmatch and winamp didn't, and did everything they did better... And now IT'S better too! I'm a happy man!

Bought an iPod at the time when MusicMatch was the bundled app. Hated MusicMatch with a passion from the very start and scouted around for an alternative. Found MC recommended at ipodlounge and never looked back.
