It looks like an animated gif won't work with the board's software.

Maybe your school doesn't allow external linking to images (to save on bandwidth), you know, like GeoCities.  :P

A trick that as been purported to work is trying to rename your dancingmouse.gif to dancingmouse.txt.

I guess the idea is most forum S/W will try to guess the image type if the extension is not a standard one. <shrug>  I don't have a GeoCities account, though, so I can't verify if this really works.  ;)

I don't know.  Animated jpg?  Animated fish?  Finimated Ant?

thanks for the replies.

its not a school thing, ive linked in static images in the past. its specific to this image.

Xen uses a gif also (http://home.revealed.net/xen/HoneyDripz.gif).

im at a loss...

will try linking a smaller image to see if that works

This is a test:

dancingmouse.gif
(http://www.sunpoint.net/~asoyapk2/pix/dancingmouseNOPICTUREANYMORE.gif)

dancingmouse.gif (http://www.sunpoint.net/~asoyapk2/pix/dancingmouse.gif)

HoneyDripz.gif

(I will remove them soon.)

There is something wrong in the file format of the dancingmouse.gif. I cannot open it with Adobe ImageReady 7.01. The HoneyDripz is ok.

P.S. Edited a bit with www url. It seems that the image is OK in a www browser (at least in IE), but some software don't like it.

aah thats the one...

anyway its too big - it needs to be less than 100x100 pixels to be used on interact...

back to the drawing board ... dangermouse will have to suffice in the interim (note to self: dont use a login name that limits me to mouse avatars...)

Since I had the ImageReady already open I reduced it to 100x100. Be my guest.

Amazing.  Reminds me of when I saw the Sistine Chapel once.

During the Easter I got this to my mail. I wanted to post it here, but I didn't find any way to get the sound working in the forum. Link: the original file with music. (http://www.adart.fi/mc/easter/easterchicks.htm)

Omni -whats RP?

RP = roleplay

Specifically, I was referring to a Neverwinters Nights multiplayer community I am active in, namely, World of Caenyr (http://www.worldofcaenyr.com/index.htm).

(For those not into games, Neverwinters Nights is an AD&D [Advanced Dungeons and Dragons] computer roleplaying game, or CRPG for short.  :))

Well, i was cutting and pasting my password into the space on the profiles page...and it would'n paste!  Keep trying, though and after a few times, it let me paste.  Did the same thing when I cut ans pasted the  address for my avitar.   Been using the latest build, but maybe I was doing something wrong... B ?

now im really confused...

the MC build has nothing to do with the interact forum...is that what you meant?

Sounds like he she was using the mini-browser built into MC.

Now we're all confused...so, here's what I did.  I wanted to change my avitar, so i opened my profile from the MC start page.   Then I opened another window to where I keep my pass word...cut it, went back to the profile page and attempted to paste the password into the box provided on the profile page.  Nothing happened, so tried the paste option again (using the right mouse click) and after a few tries it finally worked.   Same for pasting my address for my site with the avitar.  Maybe I have a bum mouse......and yup, I am definately a girl person.   And the build I was talking about was the latest MC build.

Sorry 'bop...we had similar confusion about one of the moderators here as well...so your not the first. I hope your lower jaw is a little more developed than Betty's is.

Mini struck out Jim...is it using the FireFox (FireBird then) engine you talked about in days yore?

"similar confusion about one of the moderators here " - well xen does have a picture of a girl as his avatar...

bebop - dont worry about the version of MC. it wont affect filling in the form at all. pasting url's should be fine, pasting passwords sometimes isnt (dont know on this forum though). at least it works now eh! :)

no prob xen!  And I've decided that this must be a mouse (and not the animated dancing kind, but the strangely shaped techie one) related problem!!! Was sending a link to family re: lava flows in Hawaii's Volcano National Park, and had the same prob with cutting and pasting addresses!

'bop,

If you haven't yet then check out FireFox. It is the best browser and there is boatloads of nifty extensions available. Want a new tab?..well then click on that there middle wheel. Your C-n-P problems will be history.

Xen - Love, love, love Firefox!!!  thanks for the tip!  Love those tabs, love being able to customize!!! Got it and am keepin' it!  Now that I have my avatar working, have another question...how do you get that fish at the bottom or stuff in the body of the message? Is the procedure similar to putting the aratar up?  Might sound dumb, but MC is my first forum foray, so am just trying to glean info from  those in the know.

The new avatar is great!

Just write the link with image tags to the signature part of your profile:

Remove those extra spaces from image tags.
