I noticed this on the weekend, but I thought an upgrade to the latest would help. It take MC about 5 minutes just to load the welcome screen. During this period, my CPU gets pinned at 100%, with MC using the lion's share. After it has loaded, attempting to access my (38,000 track) library results in the same behaviour.
I haven't yet had the patience to determine when CPU returns to normal after that.
Any ideas?

I would create a minimilistic alternate library (and open it) to pin down whether there's trouble there or in MC itself. While your lib is livin large, there's bigger ones out there and I haven't heard any real complaints on speed.

Will do. I do know that when served up through Media Server, it's OK. And it's the part where it's choking trying to open the welcome page that has me worried.

Hmmm. Very strange.
I have some smartlists for synching to my iPod that do take a long time to recalculate (several minutes). I just assumed this was normal.
However, I now realize that when I access them over the Media Server it is in fact quite fast.
I will build a new library from scratch (reimport) and see what that does.

Pending your results...have you considered having it open on say...Media Library instead?
-
Still waiting for the welcome page to load......
I can try that as well. Let you know.

Fixed it.
Thanks for the suggestion. I moved all of my library files out of the data folder, and then back in one at a time. Looks like I had a corrupted currplaylist.jmd. Removing it does the trick.
I'm just glad that it wasn't one of the others <<shudder>>.

I will try doing the same.
