Title: Interesting music search engine: MusicPlasma
Post by: gpvillamil on April 25, 2004, 07:50:32 pm
Check out www.musicplasma.com, you put in the name of an artist and it draws a pretty slick graphic map of other artists with similar styles.

I believe it is based on a database that was built by Sony a while back.

I like it though i would dissagree with some of the halo sizes.  The pixies for instance are much smaller than they ought to be, basically everyone within their whole screen was hugely influenced by them.

Have to add the velvet underground to that list, whoever gave them the smallest circle size was slightly off, Again about as influential as they come, they are so influential that some bands have been influenced by them and don't even realise it, because their influences were influenced by them.

what a cool setup.

kaiynne - the help key says that the halo's represent the artists popularity. i 'guess' this is more to do with album sales than influence on other groups...
